Tacoma "TX Package" Concept

In keeping with my last post on the ATG Concept, here is another (and perhaps more sensible) concept that apparently came out at SEMA:

Developed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the Tacoma TX concept is based on a 2010 Tacoma PreRunner SR5 and adds performance accessories and two unique graphics along each side of the truck.

The Tacoma TX performance mdifications includes: TRD 16 x7.5-inch off road bead lock style wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain T/A KO LT285/75x16 tires, a TRD stainless steel Cat-Back exhaust, Cadmium plated Bilstein 5100 Series shocks, a Genuine Toyota class 4 trailer hitch, a Genuine Toyota lightweight aluminum tube steps with a black finish, a Motoextender by Amp Research, and Genuine TRD floormats.

The Tacoma TX Package Concept was developed for the 2009 SEMA Show to gauge public reaction to its unique design themes and multiple performance modifications. The Tacoma TX is equipped with an impressive list of Toyota Racing Development (TRD) performance accessories and two unique graphics along each side of the truck. SEMA attendee reaction to the Tacoma TX will help enable Toyota to make necessary refinements and finalize a package available for Tacoma buyers in future model years.

Toyota used a 2010 Tacoma PreRunner SR5 as the base vehicle for the modification project. Newport Beach, Calif.-based advertising agency Blue C teamed up with Toyota to create the unique dual theme design. The driverside graphic, named Tacoma TX2, is an evolution of the current TRD design. Inspired by traditional TRD elements that convey the lifestyle of Tacoma owners, the design offers a new look and feel that is unique, yet maintains the TRD brand heritage.

The passenger side graphic design, called the TX Pro, conveys the energy of today’s youth. The design theme is inspired by travels to SCORE International, Vans Warp Tours, Coachella Music Festival and SuperCross events. The “Pro” designation gives a nod to those who are passionately involved in the high-energy action sports scene.

  • The tx2 elements were designed to be an extension of the traditional TRD (Toyota Racing Development) graphic
  • The “lifestyle” direction targets the audience that utilizes a truck for their normal, everyday life interactions
• Passenger Side - Tacoma T|X
  • The T|X Pro is all about energy & the design aesthetic is inspired by travels to SCORE International, Vans Warp Tours, Coachella Music Festival, & SuperCross.
  • Design elements including the “Individualistic” stars and the “Power of Individualism” griffin are utilized as major mainstays in the overall design.

 

That's sick but wouldn't those tires rub like a mother?

 

Very cool, minus the graphics. A factory lifted taco, sounds good to me.

 

Thats pretty cool looking, would be a lot better if it was 4x4

It's graphics, tires, wheels and shocks. Nothing too major of an upgrade...

 

If this does make it to be a factory option it will most likely be for the Swan Song last year of the current gen taco being 2011 most likely. Would be pretty sweet less some of the graphics

it has the sweet FJ wheels!!

 

I think even with the 5100's set at 2.5", there will definitely be some rubbing issues with the 285's and the mudflaps.

 

Not a big fan of all the graphics. Sometimes more is less.

 

I wonder if it has different UCA's? My 5100's are set at 1.75" & I almost feel the need for a set.

 

I doubt it. You shouldn't have a problem with 1.75" setting. Have your alignment check.

 

ehhh I don't think so. This doesn't have the suspension like the raptor.

although it does have that off-road look, it doesn't really have enough upgrades to compete. The 5100's aren't very close to the fox resi shocks, and coilovers.

If they threw on a new leaf pack, different bumpers and more than just the trd exhaust then it would be close-ish


I sure hope toyota does makes something to compete with the raptor though

 

it needs color matched grille surround and rear bumper.

 

I thought the 2009 and up had the smoked headlights?

 

I wouldn't buy a Raptor regardless...
