No mud flaps on the '16s? Where are they going to mount the front plate?

Check through my created threads to find a thread about front license plate. There were a lot of pictures posted. It looks like a snout

Front tag is a joke. Glad I live in a state without the front tag.

Congrats on the new truck. Thanks for sharing you initial observations and tests.
Have you noticed any issues with the lower ground clearance and lighter payload capacity than your 1st Gen?
(I'm weighing the pros/cons of if/when to upgrade)

Maybe I am missing something, but on Toyota's website it indicates payload of the 4x4 is 1640. Also saw that on multiple sites. Car and driver, Edmunds, ect...

I used the pdf guide posted on this site. (Can't remember where it is.) But it said the weight for a 4x4dc is 4460 and total gvwr is 5600

Colorado "requires" a front plate. Ran without one for 7 years now. Pulled over twice, and both officers said the same thing to me. No it's not required but it's officer discretion if you get ticketed or not.

I remember reading something about that too. Think 1120 is for the base AC?

That's not the one I saw. Maybe it was referring to the sr5. Can't be sure. Anyways, like they said if you're gonna be trying to fit 5 200lb people go tundra.

There is a big difference between 1100 and 1500. Why are other midsize trucks able to get 1500lb payloads?

Dug out the 2003 Brochure for reference ...
    V6 4x4 XtraCab Manual = 1,585 pound payload capacity

2nd Gen and now 3rd Gen have more power, are bigger, heavier trucks, but can carry less. Anyone know, definitively, what components/performance are the limiting factors?

You do know the rear bumper has plastic coverings in several pieces all the way across..painted or chromed. Not sure what is under the plastic..bumper or what. The parts are held on with push pins. Kinda cheap feeling to me, but then the old one had a paper thin bumper which dented very easy.

My 1st gen was lifted 3". Yes I have noticed the height difference. On past desert outings I dragged the hitch once. Today in Sedona I dragged it a few times and scuffed the exhaust slightly. I also decided to back off a small ledge today due to it being to close to the exhaust and rocker panels.

Never towed nor hauled anything very heavy in the bed with the 1st gen so don't notice a payload or capacity difference.

Will update the OP with pic's and video in a few from todays adventures.

You should see if Toyota would like to buy the photo from you for use in an advertisement. If not, maybe some AZ Toyota dealer.
    Great photo.
