So, here's my extremely scientific way of determining what weight is going to do...
    35433B00-7577-4D59-8610-4F788C073DE2_zps_d43ff553489f6ac7ad354ec7d3abf54b32aa7ea8.jpg

First, I used Google to find out how much a gallon of gas weighs. 6lbs if anyone is curious.

Two cans to simulate the weight of the front hitch. It weighs 63 lbs. only went down 1/8 of an inch.

With the winch and cradle, the weight will,be closer to 200lbs. With 180 lbs of gas cans I lost 3/8".

Now, this is with stock coils on 5100's set at 1.75". If what I've been told is true, and 887's are around the same spring rate as stock, I'll loose even more with the 887's. As the stock coils preloaded on the 5100's must be stiffer than the 887's. No?

I'm thinking of going with 3/8 top plate spacers. The SHOULD give me an additional 1/2-5/8" prior to adding the weight.

Can anyone see a problem with this that I don't?

Sorry, but I only want to do this once...

To target your audience.. Make a thread asking 885 guys how much drop they got from winch and bumper before going to 886

OK, so I'm mistaken there. Any idea how 887's would compare to stock coils used in conjunction with 5100's at 1.75?

They'll ride a whole lot better that's for sure. If you're going to hang +200lbs of the front of your truck get 886s. If that doesn't give you the height your looking for, add a spacer.

I already have the 887's on the work bench...

Wasn't planning to leave the winch on when I ordered this stuff. Maybe I should just go back to my original plan...

Not sure what your original plan was but why don't you send the 887s back and get 886s instead?

My original plan was to keep winch and cradle in the bed. I ordered 887's because I wanted a full 3". But, I guess you're right. I could've done 886's and a spacer. Now, to figure our what SIZE spacer.

    Can't help you there. I don't run a spacer with my 886s.

~135lb for the bumper and winch, then full skids and a group 31 battery. And I might have 2.5" of lift.

In my opinion.. I would put the 887s on... Loaded down would be a comfortable ride.. Probably like stock honestly.. The 885 guys say they are stiffer than stock but with 887s would get the height back enough but give the feeling of 885s weighted down...

I would Recommend new upper control arms no matter what coil you go with

I would do this given how much weight you plan to run up front

Unless you are set on the full 3 in.. I tried to get the full three and drove myself crazy because my dakars settled with gear and roof top tent

Really you are going to have the 63lbs all the time. Like you said the winch and cradle are only temporary for the oh shit moments so i would worry too much about it.

So if it's just the 63lbs full time and no skids, or big ass battery I think you would be fine with the 887's. However if those things are soon to come, then perhaps 886's are the way to go. I ran my 886's with just a front bumper (130ish lbs maybe 150) for some time and it wasn't bad at all and I never rode nose high. At first I was just running around with no bumper and just skids and the ride didn't change when I put the bumper on.

    With bumper on
    With 2 bumpers on

    Tires in pics are 265/75/16
    Hope that helps.

So my RCI steel skids up front in total weigh 114lbs. Riding on 887's.

My full Dakar rear only has a 16lb skid on the diff itself but that sits on the axle and should put no stress on the suspension.

Alright, thank you everyone. I don't THINK I'll ever do a bumper and skids. But, who am I kidding? I didn't think I'd do ANYTHING to this truck the day I bought it... :D
