What brand rotors and pads did you swap in? Slotted? Drilled and slotted? Are you racing?

I have a 2001 DC with 77,00 miles. Only on my 2nd set of front brakes. Still have origional rears. Wondering if the hot weather by you is extreme enough to cause this. Lots of hills? I notice you have Alcoa rims-do thos holes provide enough cooling in your opinion? Just trying stuff here. Give us more info to feed on:)

i bought the rotors from autozone but the ceramic pads from another place. i dont know why its doing this,, vibrating & warping. could it be that the calipers are sticking??? im very frustrated.

    getting there....
my guess is you may need to start looking at your calipers as the culprits. sounds like the pistons in them may be sticking and causing overheating and vibrations, which can lead to rotors being warped. which rotors from autozone did you get?? duralast gold??

As others have said, make sure your calipers aren't sticking.

Also, go with better discs and pads. Upgrade to slotted rotors and Hawk pads. Give Edwin at raceshopper.com a call and he'll hook you up. Seriously.

Depends on what you pick but I've always found them to have the best prices. I've given them business for 8 years now and have never received an incorrect part, and that's on 15 different cars and trucks. I typically go for slotted rotors for faster self-cleaning and slightly better cooling.

    From their site:

Note sure if they carry calipers but it's worth asking.

Generally speaking, the dealer should be able to look up options based on your VIN.

I don't believe VSC is available without ABS. From my understanding, the systems are sort of tied together, so I'd guess "no". :)

Not hard at all. Just a bit of a pain and requires 2 people to do it properly.

The bleeding kits that I've found at most auto parts stores are crap. You really just need a rubber boot that fits tight over the bleeder valve, a clear hose, and a container to catch the brake fluid.

    1. Liquid Wrench the bleeder valves and let them soak.
    2. Loosen the lid on the master cylinder reservoir.

Starting from the wheel farthest from the master cylinder and working your way to the next closest each time, perform steps 3-6 for each wheel.

    3. Get a box wrench on the bleeder valve, the boot with the clear line also on the bleeder valve, and your buddy in the driver's seat with the truck off.
    4. Tell your buddy to push the brake pedal to the floor, counting to five as he does it. When he starts to step, open the bleeder valve. When he gets to 4, close it. This will ensure that the valve is never open when the pedal is coming up and will not suck air into the system through the valve.
    5. Have him release the pedal and repeat step 4 until no air bubbles come out of the line.
    6. Check the master cylinder reservoir and add fluid as necessary.

That's pretty much it. Shops use suction pumps to bleed the brakes but that doesn't remove all the air properly. The above method will.

Farthest to closest. Assuming the master cylinder is on the driver's side, it's:

    1. Rear Passenger side
    2. Rear Driver side
    3. Front Passenger side
    4. Front Driver side

I think VSC only became available on the 04 models.

i personnally would ditch the autozone parts and go with a good aftermarket or factory rotor. just my two cents.

I now refuse to buy any autozone brake product. I did brakes on my wifes '05 civic we bought brand new, had 60,000 miles on original front pads, put the "good" autozone pads on it and they wore down and tore up the rotors in under 5,000 miles. I did my '06 Ranger (also bought new) front pads, tore those rotors up too. I did my 91 Cherokee pads and rotors, tore up the rotors under 2k miles. Autozone is absolute junk for brakes. I use OEM stuff now and never have a problem. All the pads were wore down just about to metal but not quite there. All wore in under 5k miles. Left warped rotors with deep grooves. No mechanical/caliper issues. And we don't drive crazy or anything like that.
