My ABS and Traction control lights have been randomly turning on and off, not during braking or after, just randomly. The dealer cannot replicate it and the lights never come on while it is at the dealership. The computer doesn't store failure code either. Go figure. Good thing it is still under warranty. Any ideas? The VIN says this recall doesn't apply.

If possible...and carefully...record video of the dash on your phone when it happens. Makes it harder for the dealership to think you're cray-cray.

My 2012 Sport has all the issues with the ABS VCS recall but my VIN isn't listed so it's not covered by toyota. What a bunch of crap.... I'm going to complain but I'm sure it will be on deaf ears just like my rear suspension issues.

I never recieved a letter for this and didn't think it would effect my truck because it was an 06. Last weekend, I took it to the dealer for the frame and leaf spring inspection. They told me that they needed to reflash the ECM for this problem . I let them do it and they said my frame and springs were good. No problems so far, but I never noticed a problem from the start.

I wonder if this was the problem with the earlier models?
    My ABS sucks!
    Can't use it in snow,mud,gravel,etc.
    Dangerous as hell.

    ^^^That

Mine is a 2013; dealer says it doesn't get re-programming.
The ABS pulses very slowly when it kicks in, and, does in fact feel worse than if I was working the brakes myself.

In times of snow and ice, I wish I didn't have ABS. I'd rather know when I'm locking up my tires and pulsate the pedal myself if needed or wanted.

Pull the ABS fuse then or do the ABS disable mod.

I'd never had an issue with mine in the 3 years of ownership. I finally let the dealer do the recall yesterday when I was in dealing with a catalytic converter warranty issue.

Very few people actually have ABS issues with the Tacoma, but if you believed the threads on here you'd think the ABS was killing babies every second of every hour of every day.

I had mine fixed before I even heard about the recall. What would happen sometimes going around a corner hard (dry ashfault) the abs would kick in and automatically hit the brakes and cut the throttle. Kinda spooky. The truck was trying to straighten itself out.

That's not the ABS, that's VSC. They are related systems but not the same thing. To be honest VSC saves lives at highway speeds but can be very annoying if you brake the wheel contact on the pavement on turns.

It is all integrated. The truck assumed i was loosing traction. I was not going anywhere fast enough to actually loose traction. It would hit the brakes and pull me strait while I was still in the corner.. Point being. They did the reflash and it no longer does it.

Wait until it snows this winter,I'll put my ABS fuse back in & take you for a ride.
    You'll shit your pants.

Fair enough. I've never claimed there are no issues with the Tacoma ABS. It's likely on only certain trucks and no one knows exactly why.
