Global warming does exist, it's just hard to separate how much of it is us and how much is the natural pattern of temperature fluctuations that the earth undergoes. What we do know though is that significantly higher temperatures are likely to happen if we release more greenhouse gases than the system can cope with. That's bad for us for a lot of reasons, and we should manage our emissions accordingly.

So, much like Global Warming, managing emissions isn't about just measuring how many people have died and laughing at it. It's about curbing a practice that will cause injury and death as much as possible to avoid becoming a part of that statistic.

I work to try to control pests that quickly become resistant to our pesticides. It's amazing how fast selection pressures can cause a population shift. I accept evolution for exactly that reason. If a bug population can select for a trait in 4 or 5 generations it's not hard to comprehend evolution.

Just because a group of scientists accept something. Does not make it true. Especially when it's based on computer models.

The only 100% correct statistics, are historical statistics.

Analytical statistics are largely based on opinion. And if you get enough scientists to agree with that opinion, you have a concensis.

And that still doesn't make it true.

Same with the VW emissions deaths.

    Correct thread.

I know I have bias. Everyone does. However, I'm not in a position of power. I don't influence others with my bias. The media does. Every day. Because of their agenda.

    It's called a scientific consensus

Science is awesome in the fact that , unlike just believing something , scientific findings are repeatedly tested and retested , when the point arrives that the overwhelming majority of science on a particular question points to one conclusion , a consensus on the subject is formed , not through opinion but through scientific research .

You would be incorrect to assume that only computer models of future warming determine whether we are currently in a warming trend , they predict potential results of continued warming

and I'm done wasting my time on this subject with you , wrong thread

Not a bias, it's a rejection of scientific facts. Position of power is a moot point,as others who share your thoughts are sanctioned by the very people who do determine "facts".

This thread makes me LOL daily. Why someone feels the need to justify breaking environmental laws is beyond me.

you are welcome to accept "facts" from a consensus of government funded scientists. Who may or may not have an agenda...Like, I don't know..."I get to continue to receive funding if I tell them what they want to hear" no agenda there

So you are saying global warming is not an issue caused by the release of CO2 from hydrocarbon fuel consumption?

It doesn't take much to realize that taking the carbon cycle out of it's natural balance is a bad idea. Much like it doesn't take much to understand that any increase in smog will lead to a higher risk of injury and/or death from lung disease. Hence, companies that willfully break laws on air pollution are contributing to death and disease. You don't need the government to tell you that. A simple understanding of chemistry and ecology is all that is needed.

I receive knowledge from non-partisan, unaffiliated people in the field. I haven't had cable for years and am unaffected by government funded news or whatever fox news comes across your television. That is of course if you have cable.

@Larry seems to argue on here just for the sake of argument, VW broke the law and the extra emissions that were given off are not good for anyone. It's almost like he has a dog in the fight that no one knows about. VW tech perhaps? Who knows.
