Over the last month I have been doing some serious research on the new Tacoma, I want one today, and will pay for it cash if I can get what I want. I went to the dealer, 2 weeks ago and nothing really to tell me about what I could order. So I went to a big Auto Show and they had some, but they were all TRDs or set up for off road only. I do not want off Road, I do not want a TRD, I do not want a moon roof and I don't care about the wheels they are pushing. I just want a good pickup like I have had to haul a little hay, my garden supplies and pull a small trailer once in a while. They did not have one for me. Every single Tacoma out there had Black interior, BLACK? No way in south Texas, I am not crazy. I went back to dealer, they said every one they had, all models, had black and moon roofs. I called Toyota office and they said, all were black and didn't know why. I sent e-mail and they said the same thing. Toyota.com only shows black interiors with some stitching colors, What is going on?
. I asked if it will change later and got no answer. If this is what they are going to push, I will go buy an Outback Subaru, and keep my old Pickup. It will last another year or so, and see if they get some sense. One other thing. I am not blown away by to things on the outside. I wouldn't have most of the colors. Not my favorites. I don't want Blue, Black or Red. so i don't have much choice. I had sandstone and it was a nice neutral color. The quicksand is too gold of a color So I will order white if I can get a lighter color interior. I like the grill on the TRD but not the cheap looking flat black made out of cheap metal. I guess I am just not excited now that they are here and I so wanted a new one.

If all you want is a work truck, a 2015 should serve you well.

I was seriously considering another Subaru. A fully loaded Outback does probably 90% of what I needed a Taco to do. My rationalization. I've been in the same damn Subaru for 16 going on 17 years and I want something different. That and the roads are not getting any better at least on the east coast. A mid size truck with excellent offroad capabilities will go a long way in our dystopian future.

It will be months before dealers have much of a selection. Just wait till something you like comes along.

This - been talking to dealers, hitting the pavement since August. They are only now just starting to appear.

Go to toyota.com, put in your zip code and build the truck you want. The SR and SR5's in white have the cement gray interior available.

I'm in the same boat with ya.... There are certain things I want/need. After reading the info here, I can't get 'everything' ( per say). I still can't believe there's no power seats (among other things). There are no tacomas at my dealers yet, so I can't even see one in person or talk to anyone with a clue. I have to see and feel before I buy.

A 2015 is just a 'new' version of my 07. I want something different.

I'll probably end up waiting till next spring... and in the meantime, I'll be checking out the competition. Yea... I said it. I had high hopes for a new Tacoma. My God... I drove a 2015 Highlander as a rental and it has more options than the new taco. Or... all the info I've been reading here is wrong. :(

That doesn't always work. I tried it... and the options were even less than what I've read that's available. It is ( or can be) based on the region and what's currently out there. Has nothing to do with what you are supposed to be able to get.

I should have said that I am in my early 70s, retired and want more practical than sporty. My wife and I both like the Tacoma, as we are sitting higher than the Ford Fiesta she was driving. That kills an older person to get in and out of sitting your your rear with your legs straight out in front of you. We will drive this one to Illinois and Utah to see grand kids, and don't want the rougher ride. We like the pickup as we buy and sell some antiques and bring them home in the truck. I am getting ready to make a trip to Illinois in a couple of weeks so that is why I am so urgent to get one. I was just excited to go and find the one I have been wanting and it just isn't there now. When you get older you don't have as much time to wait around Ha ha.

At your age, you should be enjoying the sunset with an Angry Orchord in one hand and a Good SAMs magazine in the other. Enjoy the grand kids and forget about the antiques!

Keep your 2005 until you can get EXACTLY what you want. You should be spoiling yourselves instead of rushing a purchase. You've got more time than you think ... Stay safe and enjoy your trip!

You don't want a tacoma. Judging by these comments it's what younger douche bags drive.

What you want is just the base SR model. It comes with a light grey interior and none of those extras that you don't want. Go take a look at the Toyota website.

No joke...I can't remember where I saw this stat but the Outback was ranked 3rd for vehicles used for outdoorsy activities. No surprise the wrangler was ranked 1st...

    Just sayin...

There's nothing wrong with hitting the slopes in the winter after some fresh powder , or hitting the glassy water at the after bay early in the morning before everyone has breakfast.
