Just picked it up yesterday! It's been amazing, I can't think of a single thing I don't like. It looks even better in person from any angle, drives quiet and smooth, plenty of power, jbl sounds awesome, Entune works great.

One awesome thing I didn't think about is that since the bed is deeper now, the tailgate is longer. So in the short bed you have more room with the tailgate down then you used too.

Sweet! Got a first look at one here in central CT: happened to drive by the dealership, and there were four of them, one in blue! Hopefully, I can take a test drive tomorrow...

SR5 4X4 4cyl. This replaces my older 2006 Tacoma that got zapped by the frame recall. my older Tacoma was a 4cylinder 5 speed manual and that did just fine, it was only 2WD which made it a nightmare driving in the snow her in Kansas. I am originally from PHX. But here in KS it is flat flat and did I say flat. I could not find a V6 in the Blue Pearl extended cab SR5 within 500 miles. There were many 2WD V6 and 4 cab. But I wanted to stay under 30K. I have had the truck for a couple of days and like it a lot.

I never really liked the 5 speed manual in the old truck. I thought it was geared really screwy. 1st was really low and second was much higher, I always ran into the too fast for 1st and too slow for 2nd all the time. As for the new truck, the 6 speed Auto is nice, it however is designed for mileage so it always tries to short shift to get you in higher gears. But pushing the ECT button, the truck comes alive, great pull and good acceleration throughout the curve. So the ECT is great if you want a more punchy response and or power for towing and or going up hills and passing. It also gets rid of the transmission constantly shifting from 6 to 5 or 4 when going up inclines with the cruise on, let the engine stay revved a tad longer.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking for some feedback on the 4cyl 4wd with the 6spd auto. So is it safe to say you're happy with your engine choice and are not regretting not getting the v6? Also some updates with average MPG's would be great.

I am pretty happy with the 4cyl. But I don't pull anything and or drive in hilly terrain and use the truck for light duty and running to and from work. I would definitely go for the V6 if you were the 4 cab and or pulling or driving in the mountains a lot. I drove the truck back from the dealer which was 200 miles away LOL at an average speed of 75-80 mph and was seeing about 18 to 19 mpg, there was a 20 mph headwind the whole time. But it is about the same as my other Tacoma 4 cylinder got.

The 6 speed likes to keep you in higher gears and it takes quite a bit of aggressive pedal to get it to down shift. But when ECT mode is selected, it is completely different and very responsive. Basically I call ECT mode (normal mode) and ECT off (EPA save gas mode)

I was hoping someone with a light foot could get low to mid 20's averaging 60mph. You'll have to let us know how you do after you filled up a few times. Grat's on the truck, she looks good. Thanks again for the review.

That could be possible. I drive to work on the highway 15 miles each way and average 60 - 65 mph. So I will se how it does at those speeds. Most EPA Estimates are with light foot methods anyway :)
