ones thin tube with 4 bolts to the frame bottom.
The other is thicker metal with 6 bolts, 4 bottom frame, 2 top frame (mid grille)

I suppose you doubt warn's model (very similar to go rhino's) can't actually support its winch either?

God damn that 99 looks so sexy!! But yeah, I don't see why they wouldn't work on all 1st gens either. That's just what it says on their site.

Can you take a pic of where it mounts on your truck so I can compare it to mine to see if it's the same. Cuz if so, I don't care what GoRhino's site says, I'm buying it! :D

usually there is a police "interceptor" package correct? Or w/e they call it now. It has all the add-ons for the police vehicles including the frame mounted push bars. though most are cars that I've seen

and to put it honestly, no, I don't trust bolt on push bars. bolts can shear. and the rad support/grill will crush in a 5-10 mph hit usually. welded on have higher tolerance for impact before breaking.

that's not saying the welded ones won't damage the front but they do have more support and bracing to their advantage.

IIRC the ford package was labelled as interceptor, which is funny because they're slower than the one's your grandma can buy.

Just slap some JB Weld all over the contact plates for the bolt-on model before you bolt it on.

Honestly though if you wanted it for protection get a plate bumper. Otherwise all you're doing is losing 4 or 5 inches of garage space and parallel parking clearance.

Not sure how you're getting that as they all come with the same 4.6L V8?

I thought they had the 5.4 newer style (replaced the old 5.8 Windsor)? Or even the 5.0 Coyote now but no real boats being used anymore, all I see are Taurus and Explorer for new styles :(

Probably from having my butt in the driver seat for a decade

They're built for fleet use and abuse so they're heavier. All the factory aluminum parts are replaced with steel, and then you have the cage and all the other gear added in. The charging system takes more hp to turn as well, designed for all the flashy lights and other doodads.

Grandma's crown vic, will run circles around the police crown vic. (I've been out for a few years so I'm assuming they still make them). It was the same story with the police impala (biggest POS I was ever forced to drive) and the dodge, which had issues with the brakes and suspension not holding up for squat.

I was one of the dept testers for the impala, said in no uncertain words "DO NOT BUY THIS CAR" and got back in my vic. So the dept replaced 1/2 the fleet with them. Then they said, "You're not due for a new car for a couple years, but do you want an impalla?" I said in no uncertain words "I DO NOT WANT THAT CAR IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM." So the transferred me out of the vic and into that piece of automotive crap for the last years of my career. Underpowered, handled like crap on its best day and too small inside to be anything but miserable in. I hated that thing.

Probably one of the reasons I'm not a cop anymore

Your basic police package is closer to being designed as a taxi, miles and miles at stop/go with hours and hours of idleing. They're not designed like you would expect, it's long term cost savings the dept cares about, not chasing down bad guys.

Oh I know. I work for the government in Chevy Express vans with the 6.0L Gas Jobs. (They took away our diesels...)
I thought you meant as in the engine was different. All our lights are LED so they don't have much draw, but all the charging devices, radio equipment MDT's etc. That crap is our energy hog.

The engines are the same afaik.

Most of the newer cars have LED bars on them, things are amazing bright. When they first put them on some of the cars I had to change my time estimations. I'd think I was 30 seconds from backing someone up, 3 minutes later I'm still driving to them. I had one of the last old style light bars on the impalla, regular bulbs. The bar got destroyed (vandalism) and the dept decided to pull a bar off a 1980s and install it instead of putting on a new one. A birthday candle puts out more light than that thing did, before you light it. It was a sad joke imo. Some of the sirens also had issues, when it was cold out, siren wouldn't work louder than a whisper until the control box had warmed up. The Dept's solution, don't use the siren until its warm.

Fantastic, I live in Wy, work midnights or swings, shift after shift after shift of sub 0 temps, and oddly enough don't get to schedule when an emergency happens. Oh, and WY law for emergency vehicles REQUIRES an audible siren. Lights are optional by statute. But hey, you're in an office 9-5 and I'm just working the street. What do I know?

Now I feel all kinds of bitchy
