I have a 2002 Tacoma 4 Dr. And these seats are the most uncomfortable I have EVER driven with. Are there any other manufacturers that easily bolt in or can use the slide frames for better comfort? I found a lot of comfort in Chrysler Mini-Van front seats. HELP

Common complaint from many. I personally don't find them too bad.
The 3rd gen seats appear to be different. If you are super ambitious, you could see if 1) they will fit then 2) get a set to replace the ones you have.

Good seat covers can help. My Wet Okole seat covers are very padded and make the seats much more comfortable.

Man i have asked the same questions on a few other threads and have had no response. I do not think that very many people have tried to switch the seats.

I would think that another toyota or lexus may have seats that fit since they are from the same manufacturer. However you have to worry about the side airbag compatibility and that maybe where the problem lies... i dont think people want to mess with that stuff since it is potentially a life saver.

It's easier and more cost effective to go to an upholstery shop, discuss your specific needs and go forward.

Not every uncomfortable seat needs a complete replacement. A concept that is lost, apparently.

If you can weld or have a really nice friend who can, you can easily swap mounts for 3rd Gen 4Runner seats. That's what I did and I love the leathery goodness, plus all the adjustments. I have also heard from some that you can swap the outer rail from your seat onto the 4Runner seat if you currently have bucket seats. Lemme know if you have questions I did this pretty recently and I'm willing to lend a hand if I can.

Did the wiring harnesses match up? Was it an all mechanical swap or was there some electrical work done also?

The seats I swapped in we're from a 00 Runner and were all mechanical. No 1st Gen Tacos came with electric seats so there is no wiring harness present. However it would be easy to get it up and running if you swapped power Runner seats in. Just need a multimeter and 12v source to trace and make a harness for it. It is easy enough to swap the plugs for the seatbelt warning and the weight sensor in the passenger seat can be adapted too if your taco has weight activated airbags.

Nice. My seats are all mechanical also other than the electrical hookup for the airbags. The airbags are my main concern with swapping seats. I will have to look into some used/like new 4 runner seats. Also lexus has some nice seats in their cars/suvs.
