I'll have to check who makes it, just got it at an auto parts store. I just keep it attached to the trailer so it's no extra steps

My Mom's got a '15 that I'll be keeping an eye on. If I ever get one for a family vehicle, I"ll probably insist on 5w-30 for that reason. I get why Subaru wants to run it to get the economy up, but boxers are just so temperamental...they really need to get the EJ25 out of the STi and get something more modern in there. But then again, my rants on the status of the STi could fill a whole forum.

If you want/need a 7 pin harness for the truck, you'll have to wire it yourself. The aftermarket plug and play units are 4 pin because they just plug into your tail lights. A 7 pin harness will take some wiring on your end or a place that installs receivers like Uhaul might install one for you. 4 of the 7 pins are the same as the plug and play harness so you could buy one of those for the first 4 pins (signals, tail lights and ground). You'd then have to wire the 12V power, electric brake and the auxiliary plug separately. I'm sure there's a write up on here on how to wire up a full 7 pin connector, if not youtube could help.

I think you have one that adapts from a 7 pin to a 4 pin. He want's to do it the other way from 4 pin to 7 pin. All TRD models came from the factory with the 7 pin plug.

As someone who tows more than most, I highly suggest you do not use the aftermarket kits that plug into your tail lights. They are disposable. Or at least the converters are. I used to go through a converter box a year, sometimes two. It's possible if you only occasionally tow that it will last, but if you tow frequently then get a factory harness.

    My Tundra has a 4 and a 7.
Would he have a connection for a factory harness like they sometimes do for the backup camera?

My FJ and the wife's T4R both have the combo 4/7 pin harness too. Weird the taco doesn't have it. Wonder if you could retrofit one.

If you have a 7 pin, retrofitting a combo would be incredibly simple. You'd just need 4 jumper wires.

The Tacoma, still treated like the red headed step child of the Toyota line up.

Anyone here ever have one of those "garage in a box" structures? Like a tarp covering a metal frame? Are they disappointing or will it actually last a few years?

A landscaper I worked for had one for years. It was used and abused daily and held up well. We even crashed the mowers into it on occasion and it held up. I'm sure, like everything else, there are crappy versions and quality versions and I have no idea what brand his was.
