LEDs in headlights are a bad idea--you need to design the optics around the light source (LED) and not the other way around. Results are sub-par.

So retrofit your stock lights with a proper LED projector

How do you go about a retrofit I've not done much headlight mods before so I'm new to the process

^ It looks like he sells retrofits.

Are you just looking to get more light? Your HIDs in stock reflector housings will not have a good beam pattern. They are not designed for HIDs. I would suggest running very high quality over wattage halogen bulbs like 85w Orsam Hyper H4s in your stock housings with a stand alone headlight harness. They put out 2400 lumens which is drastically more than stock. Take a quick looks at this thread so I don't have to retype it all:

I'm just looking for more light I like my hids I know they don't have a great beam but I don't really care about that I actually like that I have light everywhere with them I've just gone through a couple sets of bulbs and now a ballast has gone bad and I don't like waiting for them to warm up

A standalone harness utilizes a relay controlled by your factory switch to draw headlight power straight from the battery, bypassing the factory wiring harness. This is more efficient, causing your lights to be brighter, but more importantly allows you to safely draw far more current to run higher power lights without risk of melting or burning your factory harness. It is completely plug and play and fully reversible. I posted some cheaper options in the thread I linked above, but here is the one I have. You could also build your own.

The Retrofit Source sells components to do a proper retrofit. They don't sell retrofitted lights. If you are interested in a retrofit there are a couple of members that do provide the service if you don't want to tackle it yourself. There are also DIY posts. I definitely agree with you OP, get the HIDs out of the halogen housings that weren't designed for them.

What's so bad about hids in halogen housings is it the beam or is it dangerous to the truck because my eyes have gotten used to how they light up everything. It's the first headlight I have had that I could see good. I have bad eyes for night driving

HIDs are bad because while they may seem to light up the road with a lot of light, that light is not focused in the correct places, so it actually strains your eyes more than a standard headlight. More importantly, they are dangerous to everyone else on the road coming towards you because the light is not focused where it should be, so your headlights are blindingly bright to to everyone else.

Correct. 100% plug and play, zero cutting or splicing. Plug headlight bulbs into the harness. Plug one OEM harness headlight bulb connector into the standalone harness relay switch and attach the power leads to the battery.

^That pretty much sums it up. However, another drawback is that light focused up in the air blinding other people is light that could be focused on the pavement increasing nighttime visibility.

The harness will help anytime you have a higher power draw than stock. Most likely case for that is high power halogens.

There are members running LEDs. You need to do the headlight projector retrofit, which will involve taking your lights apart to modify them, which will break the seals and could (but not necessarily) introduce annoying moisture problems in the housing. The brighter LED lights will utilize micro-processor electric cooling fans to cool the circuits at the base of the bulb. Not the most rugged design for a light in an off road vehicle IMO.

Do they all have the fans because I saw a post where some one said they got them without fans but I can't find the post and what's a good brand retrofit or are they all the same

the lights are a different spectrum of color, not necessarily brighter. They are whiter, much like the HID. Replacing with actual brighter bulbs is illegal.
