maybe a small strip of a door seal to plug the small gap would make it look kinda rugged and finished? Either way i think it kinda looks bad ass.

nah. i like how it looks. i think if i do something to try and hide it... it'll be more noticeable that the gauge pod isn't supposed to be there. i think you would definitely be able to see it on the sides.

i know it doesn't look perfect, but you can't notice any of the holes at all once the gauge pod is mounted. it was scary to make the first cut, but once i got cutting, i wanted to cut more. it's pretty easy.

Great job on mounting...looking forward to seeing it all hooked up. If your concerned about the gap on the bottom, maybe try mounting it on some thin black or grey foam material. What are your switches to the left of the steering wheel hooked up to?

i'm not concerned about the gap

    top row of switches:
OEM fogs, Hella 500FF mounted behind grille, DTRL ON/OFF

    bottom row of switches:
custom 800 watt in-cab power inverter (switch is from a 4runner), in-bed power inverter, and aux. back-up lights (turn on when engaged in reverse or manually turned on by that switch)

oh and i've got plenty more switches in my custom FJ switch panel that i made to fit below the shifter. i love using OEM switches.

Looks good. I would have used the pod to hold some new guages like AFR, boost, etc.

you would have to do some serious modding to the gauge pod. i wanted to replace one of them and it's not gonna happen. if you want to replace the temp display with something else you can't because the two buttons below the display are also used to calibrate the compass. the compass isn't a simple magnetic compass. no no no. if you want to replace the compass it's more than likely possible but you would have to leave the circuit board because it's connected to the temp circuit board. too much modding to get some other gauge to fit. removing the inclinometer part would be the easiest place to put in a gauge because it's just a "plane level" that's screwed in there.
