I have LED headlights purchased from forum vendor csjumper2003. I love them. More light output than stock, they look great, and they are not blinding in the stock housings. I haven't been flashed once and I've been using them for a few months.

From what I have seen, it is the low power units that produce near stock light or slightly above do not have fans. The brighter higher power units do. Cree is a good quality LED brand.

I'm pretty sure any LED retrofit is for 'off road use only' just like any HID retrofit is not legal for road use.

Shoot him a PM. He will go over any options he had. Really good guy. He's done just about every light on my truck. Its not terribly expensive

I get my Jumpers LED kit tomorrow and plan on installing tomorrow.

I'll report back on how I like them.

Take pictures before and after with your lights pointing at a flat wall from distance if possible. This will show any effect on your beam pattern and cut off lines.

    You got it.

I'll do the switch at night. I live down a private drive that I can light up to show the difference.

the briteass led's are dot approved. light output is the same as stock. Again, they aren't brighter, just a different color of light giving the illusion they are brighter(until you get in a rain).
There are new cars with HID's, like most Chrysler/ Jeep grand Cherokee/ and others.
The BriteAss LED's have fans on the bulb and a transformer. There is a thread about them in here somewhere

    I believe I understand what you're saying.

My interior LEDs are brighter, but I felt like I could see better at night with the stock bulbs. Maybe it's just me.

IDK, giving it a try anyway. Paid for them. lol

they might "appear" brighter. It's like the difference between a cheap Sylvania and a Sylvania Silver Star bulb. The silver star appear to be much brighter, but it's just a different color. the bulbs brightness are "lumens" and the color is "spectrum". If you look a newer Jeep Grand Cherokee with HID's, they seem to be really bright, but it's just the color.
I prefer the whiter light output or the LED or HID. The LED doesn't require anything to convert, where as the HID are more money and more work. The whiter color reflects off objects(like signs) and make the appearance of being brighter. however when it rains, they bounce off everything and can make it harder to see the road

Good to know, I wasn't aware any H4s LEDs had been DOT approved.

And yes, several new cars have LEDs just like many have HIDs but that doesn't mean that all are DOT approved.

LEDs typically have poor performance in specrum and CRI, where halogens excell. The degree varies with quality of bulb (or diode), where LEDs that offer a better range are significantly more expensive than cheaper LEDs with a narrower range.

I just put In some, not sure how I feel. Think they're from lifetime led or at least that's the box they came in, got them off another member. I noticed lifetime has a $250 set, not sure if they would be better

I also got my headlight LEDs form @csjumper2003 and they work great! He also did 5he DTRL mod, really like that too! I don't have any issue with the quality or throw of the light.
