    Betty,
Do you hear a distinct ticking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel well area while truck is idling once warmed up?

That is where most appear to be ticking. There will be no mistaking the sound, can't miss it.

Does it sound like the vacuum switching-valve module?

Well guys and gals, I popped the hood of my new 07 and sat a bit and listened. I'm no mechanic by any means, but It sounds like it's coming from the area around (above or below, but deep inside) the spark plug area. I'll be taking mine back here soon!!!  :(

Just drove it up to the store and at about 20-30 mph it sounds like an exaust leak. I can hear it from the drivers side front wheel area and the same sputtering from the exaust pipe as you drive by other cars that are parked:confused: .

The "O" ring thing does nothing, I repeat nothing fellow Tacoma owners. What we have is either internally ill machined parts or improperly adjusted lifters if there is adjustment in them.

And the vibration is killing me, I simply cannot wait for arbitration, probably 2 months away. I'll be storing the Tacoma in the mean time.

This really is a very sad situation on what could have been a great truck.

Best of luck to all having problems.

You say it does nothing...what about the metric s__t-load of Tacoma owners who tried it, and said it worked?

    Did you try it?

Not only tried it with one O ring, but even placed another O ring on both ends of the bolt and did nothing in terms of silencing the ticking.
To end this O ring topic I completely disconnected/removed the unit entirely from the truck and it still ticked.

So in closing the O ring does not work Steve.

I need to play around with it more from outside the truck or in a car port or something. I only have listened to it from inside while accelerating. The only way I can describe it is as a fluttering mid to high pitched noise. It sounds like wind whipping across something small but it only does it when I give it gas. When I let off all I hear is a soft wind across the truck.

I have 116 miles on my truck now. I know the dealer will just tell me to wait till the brake-in is complete.

I don't know what that is or what it would sound like lol. I get the gist of the part from googling it but that didn't help much :D

    I was teasing a bit there ;)

That valve is an identified "ticking noise source", as illustrated on the posted links.

As always in things automotive and forum-described, YMMV.

Injectors do make noise, and this tick is generally described as being louder on the driver's side of the engine compartment...where the vacuum switching module lives.

If the module is the noise source, it will benefit from being isolated from its mount point; that will take two o-rings, one on each side of the valve mounting tab.

basically, all its gonna do is annoy some people( the ticking sound), but i dont think anything mechanically bad will happen.

Whether your truck is ticking in a normal way, or ticking as a symptom of imminent failure, is awful hard to determine from a forum posting.
