So is that the front bed rail from the previous generation?

It's the same bed, except ever so slightly deeper.

    Of course it fits. Yay.

Any advice on quality bike mounts that are easy to install? If got 2 bikes, one with a quick release, and one with a thru-axle.

Nope, all the bolts were already in the right spots. Just needed to unbolt what was there, add the rail, and bolt everything back up.

Yes, in my 2013 PreRunner short bed. Allows me to close the tailgate. I assume the 2016 TRD Sport I want will be no different.

Sometimes. Sometimes it is the most secure space efficient way. Usually the racks I have made in the past have been wood and down in the bed -it is very efficient to take the wheel off and mount 4-6 bikes opposing if you need to. Doesn't bother me to remove the wheel. Takes like what, 5 seconds on either end? Of course I've riding XC and have been doing so for more years than I will admit.

I only carry two bikes with the short bed so it isn't an issue. Just mount them up and angle them. The long bed will be nice. Enjoy.

Is that a short bed? Do you have a down looking view?
