    Hello all
I just bought my first tacoma ever I've always had big diesels. So I bought a 2004 Crew Cab 4x4 v6 with almost 180,000 on it. It was a one owner and has used synthetic oil all its life that's all I really know about it. Any input and tips about the truck would be appreciated. So far I really like it, drives real tight and doesn't sound like an old truck (rattles). I'm hoping to get a lot more miles out of this thing especially because of how much these things hold their value. I couldn't believe it.

    Thanks in advance.

I always recommend buying a good cell phone holder, a bluetooth elm327, and the torque app. That way you can keep an eye on the health of your engine. Also, get a repair/service manual.

Aside from that, keep using synthetic oil and make sure your tranny and diffs have their appropriate oil changes. Keeping good maintenance could get that truck above 400k miles.

Since you're used to diesels, I'll assume you tow as well. Get a good tranny oil cooler add on if it doesn't already have one.

Check for frame rust. If you're new to Toyotas I assume you haven't heard this, so just a heads up.
Lucky for you, if your frame has a rusted through hole, you get it replaced for free by Toyota.

Other than that, these things won't let you down. Unless you're trying to race, you'll be very happy with your new purchase.

I thought the frame rust deal expired at a certain point with these trucks?

Certain years. All trucks have 15 years before it expires. My truck is 2001, so +15 = 2016. My frame rust deal expires sometime in 2016.

Yours is 2004, so +15 =2019 your rust deal expires in 2019.

almost correct. only if the truck was purchased in a cold-climate state and taken in during the TSB dates offered.

Sequoia and Tundra Limited. One of my favorite wheels and I have a set waiting to go on now.

Since I just bought it I guess I could take it in to see if it was taken in during that time to get checked? it shouldn't matter if I was the original owner. Btw I don't see any rust that bad but I might crawl under there to get a closer look now.
