    I didn't and wouldn't - that long nipple (I've seen long ones but this one is real long!) helps to keep everything dry. Just lube up the cable and pass it through. Then assemble the radio end of the cable. You can always call me if you want help. I just took a listing in your neighborhood and will back and forth during the next week.
