Yea. That was my thought, eventually I'll have something. It wouldn't be a deal breaker is someone was selling some with a heavier spring rate. Prolly would work out better in the long run. Just got to keep my eyes open here in the next couple months.

The icons come out of the factory with 13 inch 650 coils for our trucks standard

Reported for excessive cross-thread advertisement, TW exclusivity, a well formed FS thread, and just generally just being really old.

Anyone have a roof rack they don't need anymore? Would like to toss my kayak on the roof for the weekend trip.

So 14" is the magic number for no preload on extended travel coilovers? I've been trying to figure that one out...

"It depends" is the appropriate response. I laugh at those that shy away from preload like it's the plague.

Lol not the plague...just figured it'd be better to not have preload than to have them cranked a bunch :notsure:

And those are the kind of generalities that proliferate throughout TW with no regard for simple mathmatics.
A 700 lb spring rate is exactly the same spring rate with a 13" coil as it is with a 14" coil...as it is with a 16" coil...and an 18" coil. It's 700 pounds of force required to compress the spring 1 inch. If the spring rate is equal, you'll need the same amount of preload no matter what the spring length is.

i believe my icons have a 13" spring. When i rebuild i plan to do a 14" #700 spring. because the weight of the V8. although i dont really know how much it should change other than less pre load.

Does your 2uz have cast intake or injection molded plastic?

Likely metal. Metal one is 10 pounds heavier than the plastic.
The 2uz with metal intake manifold is only about 115 pounds heavier than the 1GRFE. I personally wouldn't run a 700# spring considering you've got a tube front bumper.
