I'll drive while you smile. Let's get together, I want to see your truck.

2003 636 that I rarely ride anymore. Maybe put 200 miles on it in the past 6 months. Like I said speed really isn't that important to me anymore. I have other things to live for these days. It's a great bike that may be for sale soon, interested?

My typical driving would use the power generated at the low end of the RPM scale rather than balls-to-the-wall redline type driving. Thanks for this info, it further solidifies that the TRD is for me.

It's not a matter of money, my desire is based on opportunity. I will be married this time next year and I won't be the only one looking at my financial situations after that. While my fiance is really cool with me doing the things I like, a $5000 expense that isn't necessary could be a hard sale on her. I know it won't be the fastest truck but it will suit my lifestyle and make me happy. If Toyota only offered the 4.7 V8 in the Tacoma, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Not that the 4.7 is all that but it would make the Tacoma a very well balanced vehicle.

I feel confident that I can get the parts+install for around $5000. I could take it to my buddy in TN for an LSx swap (if it would fit) but that would void the requirements stated in the next sentence. Please share with me alternative power adding options that maintain warranty, reliability, and simplicity without requiring upgrades to the drivetrain and chassis that give that much power for the same or less cost. I'm open to suggestions and thank you for your time and thoughts.

I agree, if you have the money do it. I am trying to justify getting one but havent gotten enough reasons in my head to spend the money.

However, that super sexy image of dwntwnall4u's truck with the intercooler just added another reason for me to get away from normaly aspirated...

    Lots.
    If it matters....

The TRD is gonna have S/C whine and in the URD its not going to be as noticeable.

I think I may like the whine. Maybe it will cover up some of the nasty clicking sounds that come from this engine.

Does anyone have or know of any negative experiences with the TRD Supercharger? Anyone regret getting the TRD Supercharger?

The URD out of the box has more power. But the fastest 1/4 mile time right now is from the TRD.

With the TRD as stated before you keep the warranty. On your 09' you have a bunch of warranty time/miles left. I would stay with the TRD just incase something goes wrong.

But the URD is fast as hell. The stage 3 will run you closer to 8.5K (I think) but 426rwhp isn't too bad.

I'm only 18 though and stupid so someone else might know better :D

good point on the v8 Taco, if they offered that...probably would have the same gas mileage as the V6....look at the 2010 F150, the 4.6V8 gets 15/21... that's pretty much the Toyota V6...

An engine with more power doesn't have to work as hard to propel the vehicle. I learned this with boats. My 23 foot boat with twin four cylinders totalling 300 horsepower burned more fuel than my 23 foot, and much heavier, boat with a 450 horsepower 8.1L big block.

this thread actually helped me decide..im NOT going to get the supercharger anymore...just because the gas prices and california and how expensive the maintenance will be on that supercharger..not too mention you have to change the oil more often, and i use royal purple and mobile 1 filter..if you still want the supercharger, check out www.toyotaterritory.com i get all my parts from them because they are wayyyyyy cheaper than my dealership by at least 20% minimum and customer service is GREAT

Not sure where this 'changing the oil more frequently' comes from but it isn't true. I speak from years of experience with F/I cars. I'd get a turbo if anything....nothing sweeter in my book.
