I picked up a supercharger that's been modified for an intercooler. Then I went and bought a 2016 Tacoma.

The supercharger is ugly. But, it was modified by a professional: Ed Martinez at PSE Superchargers (http://www.pse.us/)

    You get:
-Supercharger + brackets, belt, etc, (~$2700 new, not including upgrade.)
-CX Racing Intercooler kit for the 1st gen Tacoma ($439 retail)
-160 degree TRD thermostat (required for install, ~$80)
-Venom 400 fuel mgmt system. (some idiot cut the wires. ~$350 )
-Installation instructions for the supercharger in PDF.
    -shipping

    You need to provide:
-new pulley for the supercharger ($100 for a supergrip.)
    -Time

    Price: $2700

    supercharger.jpg

    Things to note:
-Again, you're not getting a pulley
-I don't have the TRD authorized part blahblah sticker. You'll need to get that from toyota.
-The Venom 400 wiring harness was cut up by the DPO. No idea how to wire it in. I never installed the SC.

Interesting. Pretty cool idea. Would like to see photos of it installed on something.

Also a bit over priced considering you can get a brand new one for 2900.

Fair, but a brand new one hasn't been reconfigured for an intercooler. Superchargers produce a lot of extra heat in the intake charge, which limits the amount of boost you can run as well as increasing wear and tear on the engine. This modified SC addresses that, and comes with the intercooler

It probably would have helped if i'd linked the intercooler kit:
http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchan...VZFE-TACOMA-IC0016-A&Category_Code=tacoma-5vz which is $439 before shipping.

So given the modification and inclusion of the intercooler, I think this is a pretty solid deal.

I never installed it, because I was trying to figure out how to make the intercooler fit on my T100. Just isn't any room to play behind the grill the way there is with the taco. I was coming up with some exotic plans to mount the intercooler above the TB, then make a mad-max style hood scoop to drive air through it.

Then I hit plan B: Completely change direction and buy a 2016.

    Here's a pic of it installed on a late 90s 4runner

So what does this achieve? Never seen a SC with an intercooler.

Many S/C's have intercoolers. They help remove heat from the intake charge after its gone through the S/C and increased in pressure/temperature. Kind of like how meth lowers the intake charge temp. This means a cooler denser intake charger which is less prone to knock and able to produce more power!

Gotcha, very cool and good luck. Maybe paint it before selling as it will help with the sale.

Looks beautiful to me haha. Knowing the functionality that was added does it for me, I guess I'm one of those guys that could like blah chick because she has a great personality haha. The only other Gen1 I saw retrofitted for intercooling was a bit more cleaner, it was cut up to add a water to air system. I see this one as lower maintenance and maybe less Murphy's law- Good luck on the sale, a one of a kind unit and these blowers sure can use some intercooling.

I like seeing people prototype performance parts. Having the S/C intercooled makes it that much "cooler" haha
