HomerTaco's big old bucket o’ bolts build

CV's like any joint bind if they are running beyond the operating angles they were designed for. Absolutley nothing about a regear or crawlbox affects this.

 

The crawl box is from inchworm but it does have the lower 4.7 gear which is the same as the "Taco Supreme".
The cv's are not really a concern for binding, as Mark stated: you run a danger of that when you try to extend the travel of the front suspension without making additional modifications to compensate.

I took my part and the specifications for the correct part (oil housing adapter) to a machine shop this morning. Let us all pray I can get it by Friday and it works.

 

On your front bushwacker flares, did you cut out the two tabs that screw into the inner splash plate? If so do all the bolts that were drilled in hold pretty good? Thanks!

Jerry is free after 3PM tomorrow. I'm hoping to get the part and head up there after work but I won't know until tomorrow unfortunately. Jerry, Ant & I have a group text going that rivals the otter's one.

So, here is my tentative plan:
Jerry's headed on Vacation next week & we'll need to get the truck back home. Fortunately he's got a car trailer so the plan is to get it back to my house before he heads out to Sin City.
Ant's off the following weekend so we'll shoot to wrap up the install then weather permitting.
The good news is that all of the major work is done: the dual cases are mounted and the shift linkage and handles are set properly. We basically need to drop the cases and install the oil seal housing then simply RTV the shit out of everything and get it all back together.
Once that's complete Ant's going to work his magic with the wiring and we'll need to fab up the new cross member extension.
I was able to source a rubber triple shift boot so the final piece with be sewing up a nice leather boot for all four sticks to finish the interior.
I think I'll make another for Ant so he can lose the crown royal bags on his!

I appreciate everyone's support. This totally did not go as planned but in reality do these things ever really go as planned?

 

Craig is there a reason you didnt get a new extension from inchworm instead of trying to get one machined?

 

Inchworm will not have a replacement available to ship until the end of October.
