Let's equip the off road variant of our trucks with tires that suck off road... that way after we gouge the consumer for $40k on his new truck, he'll have to stop at Discount Tire on the way home to drop another G on some rubber that's worth a damn.

Are these tires pretty good? I'm starting to do some research on some A/T tires. From what I see on this forum many use the K02's and Duratracs....Looking for some guidance and recommendations if possible.

We don't off road every weekend but we are on dirt roads, sand, and small hills at our ranch at least once a month.

I have had duratracs on two different 2003 trucks a Ford Ranger 4x4 and a 2003 TRD Taco and had Goodyear MTRs before that... the Duratracs look nice, are better than the Goodyear MTRs on wet pavement but both are pretty loud for road noise. Duratracs handle a bit better on road. Both tires are great for offroad. Have seen others suggest KO2s which I may try next. Also have seen others recommend Cooper ST Maxx, Nitto Terra Grapplers, and Toyo Open Country. Not sure how those stack up against the KO2's for on road performance vs. offroad performance. Ideally I want to find that balance of a durable offroad tire that can hold up in the Arizona desert, look a bit aggressive, yet ride and handle well on the pavement.

Thank you for the info. You pretty much summed up what I am looking for as well.

It's a bit of a crapshoot...not sure what the policy is on trying a set and returning them if you don't care for them at a place like Discount Tire. Maybe they're fairly flexible with this type of transaction? I think the other factor is a tire will ride and perform well at first but this evolves over time with wear & tear...so what you have a 3k to 9k miles could eventually change into a less than desirable outcome at 20k miles

The cactus is not what did me in, it was a 3/4" gash in the center of the tread. Most likely from a rock. I went with 265/75/16 BFG KO2's. With the wheel fully turned there is 2" of clearance. Unsure what the clearance is when the suspension is stuffed.

Mike have the new tires noticeably affected the ride, economy or acceleration from stock?

Only difference I noticed is they feel slightly stiffer on road. Maybe the air pressures are different?

The Hilux looks like the front of a minivan. It may be tough, but I see why it will not make it to america

Based on my observations it's damn near impossible to get banned on here.

    Mods, what mods?

Thanks for the info. Did you get good mileage out of the Nitto's and Falkens?

This is my single largest concern, the bank is pretty tapped out with the purchase of the truck, then to put new tires on immediately really stinks. Are more people experiencing wrangler punctures?

I just bought 5 265/75/16 KO2s from discount tire. $724 plus tax for all. I then sold the wranglers for $500.

Having had F-150s for fifteen years I found these to be the best truck tires out there. Great grip on and off road, very quiet and last a long time. You'll find reviews are very good. They come in several versions.
