    Mr. Marv,

Wondering what your idea's are on a Sub box for installation in the rear of the Drivers side Back cab area on a Double Cab? I see many that cover both sides or as JL Audio has one for the Passenger side, I want to put one on the drivers side storage area.

I am currently using a Blaupunkt THb 200A Sub which is doing good, but I would like better, so if you make a box and can recommend a speaker for it along with a Amp recommendation, I am not a top of the line audiophile, just like good sound... at a medium level budget...

    Thanks

    Thanks! :)
If you only want to use the drivers side you are a bit more limited in sub choices however there are several that will work well in that amount of airspace. I need to ask a few questions first that may lead to other questions...:)

What type of music do you mainly listen to?

What is your main objective with your bass?

Are you using factory or aftermarket speakers?

If aftermarket what make/model size and are they powered by an external amp?

What is your budget for all that you need? (you can PM that to me if you'd like).

You mentioned the budget was for the "box and amp" which would be feasible. If you meant the budget was for the "sub amp and enclosure" it will be a little more difficult to get "good" stuff but I can probably figure something out for you. :)

    MrMarv,

I am also interested in a sub and enclosure for behind the rear drivers side seat..here are the answers to the questions you asked the previous guy:

What type of music do you mainly listen to? Rock/Alternative/Hip-Hop

What is your main objective with your bass? Low End Sound/Feel (not looking for super loud, just to enhance music quality)

Are you using factory or aftermarket speakers? Factory speakers for now, looking up grade in the future, head unit is a Pioneer AVIC F900BT

If aftermarket what make/model size and are they powered by an external amp? N/A

I had an idea of putting the amp under the driver's seat, do you have any recommendations that would be a better place for the amp? My budget is as low as possible, but willing to spend approx 300-400$ on sub/amp/enclosure if at all possible

I am not looking to buy right this moment, just wanted to get a feel for how much it would cost me, so i have an idea for what i would need to save up for :)

    Thanks

This is a popular place because I have the same question and my answers are listed below.

    Mr. Marv,
I will be treating my DualCab to a sound dampening treatment of RAAMat BX and Ensolite. It will go in the doors, on the doors, and in the truck cabin. The only place I don't expect to treat is the roof. That shipment should arrive next in a few days.

I plan to order (decision not final) ********* kits for the fronts and rears. I understand those are good speakers. The price is reasonable when purchased as a kit so I obtain the mounting brackets as well.

I plan to order an Alpine MRP-F300 amp (decision not final) to power the four speakers.

Ah, and I'm using the stock head unit. That's why I need an amp that accepts speaker level inputs.

What I'm not certain of yet is the sub or if I truly need it. I'm sure I do need it but let me explain what I'm looking for. I desire to listen to music at a reasonable level, not ear bleading or tail gate party style. On my stock radio setup, I normally listen at 3/4 level for music or lower. Rarely do I need to max it out, that's normally when I have a low source from like my iPod or a custom CD. I want accurate music, not bone crushing distorted bass. If people can hear the music half a block away, that's too loud for me. I use to buy half speed masters (LP's for those who know what I'm talking about) and really nice sound systems back in the day. When Nachamichi and Onkyo and Polk were premium items to buy. I had a friend with those Polk SDA-SRS speakers, damn those were big! Basically, I like music to sound as it was intended.

Budget, well I know I'm looking at roughly $400 fro the four main speakers, about $200.00 for the Amp. So far I'm at $600.00, add that to the RAAMat purchase ($170) which put me at $770.00 and my wife will kill me when she finds out. I'm so dead. So, if I need a sub (sure I do) I would like to place it behind the passenger side rear seat only because my daughter normally sits in the rear drivers side seat and I don't want to fatigue/irritate her with the constant bass vibrations. I would truly like on the drivers side to conserve space but that was my reasoning.

Also, lets say I can use a driver side box, does the rear plastic seat cover have to be removed for the system to sound correct?

Sorry to being so wordy, I'd like to get all my questions out there so you know where I'm coming from and I'm open to suggestions before I drop another dime into this little project.

Last thing, the speaker wire in the 2009 DualCab, do you have any idea what gauge it is? Since I don't expect to run more than 35 watts RMS I was curious if I need to run new speaker wire or if the stock wire was sufficient.

Sorry for the delay in responding guys (dislocated a finger recently and also in the process of preparing to move!). The best bet to reach me right now is to call at the number below. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the finger.

I already placed my order for some speakers, a sub, and amp unfortunately, well probably fortunately because I was procrastinating. Total cost for those is just under a grand. Yes, blown my budget and I still need about $50.00 worth of wire and other misc. parts. Now if I could only find a head unit that looked like a factory option to replace my stock unit, I think I'd be really happy.

Take care and hope you're move goes well.
