As big as you can afford. Inevitably you're going to want to run air tools. I was in the same boat this summer.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

With a 60 gal you might have 45 seconds of cutting before it drops too low. I know with my old 120gal Id get about 2min or less of off time wile cutting with the PM85. Plasma uses a lot of air so I would wire up the compressor as well.

sooooo, dimple dies...... where do you like to buy? will only need a couple sizes, so I can buy individually or in a kit. mostly doing 1/8'' as far as I can tell. I have a 12 ton press that i'll use them with.

looks like the most common kits come with 1.25'', 1.5'', and 1.75''.

    Thanks!

initial search shows I can get a full set from 3/8'' to 1'' (5 sizes) for $70, and then the 1.25'' to 1.75'' (3 sizes) for $160. I imagine that will have me pretty well covered.

I got mine from an old pirate guy now only on ebay sometimes, barbedwireoffroad. They have a bolt hole through them and come with a thrust bearing arrangement and bolt. They have the flexibility of being able to be used without a press then, such as smack in the middle of a sheet.

The tire carrier that I built that can sit vertical or lay down in the bed relies on two spring loaded pins on each side to lock it into position. It was worn the holes I drilled in 1/4'' steel to be a little too large and has to much play in it; plus I had to drill them a little to big to start since I couldn't get the holes perfectly aligned.

I want to weld some of the hole full again to tighten it up. Is there any way I could do that with the stainless steel pin in the hole, so I can ensure perfect alignment, without the MIG weld sticking to the stainless?

Anything I can coat or wrap them in to keep the weld from bonding to the stainless steel pin?
