Yup! 1kd-ftv .... If the 1gd-ftv didn't have all the emissions crap on it I would go that way... It may take a while though... I just picked up another project...

Took my Taco to Servco today for routine warranty maintenance... Oil Change...blah blah blah. I also have asked them to perform the TSB for the spark engine knock I was experiencing. I gave them a copy of the TSB. I noticed the problem when driving slow up hills as the engine would make knocking sounds as if it had bad gas in it. By random luck I stumbled across this issue on the TW forum...crazy! I had no idea there was a TSB for this, but nonetheless found something describing the symptoms. So when I presented the TSB to Servco, they were like...we can only perform the TSB if we detect the problem. I said, "I wouldn't have brought this in if I hadn't noticed the issue!". So, I dropped it off and went to work. They called later in the day and said all the work had been done as well as the TSB. No more knocking!! I'm not sure if they took it on a drive up hill or just decided to do it, but I'm glad they did..:) What was also kind of funny was they said, we can't rotate over sized tires without a extra $50 fee. Go figure... I said no worries...I can handle that myself. So when I picked up the truck they also mentioned that the mechanic had rotated the tires by mistake and they weren't gonna charge me...lol Lots of surprises today! Luckily all good...:D

yeah...I had that feeling when I dropped it off, but I got lucky I guess. I dropped it off at the Servco in town on South street. Which one did you use?

Ahhh...maybe that's why...not sure. The guys at the South street Servco seemed like cool dudes. Older guys at that, so I figured they wouldn't pillage through my glove box and steal change...:p Maybe the Servco guys in Waipahu are Meth heads and needed some cash for their addiction... Try town next time or Mapunapuna...

What did they have to do to fix it? Mapunapuna will most likely not do a tsb. I do not recommend them. My coworker brought it in for the headlight recall along with the letter, and the MOD refused to honor the recall. He then requested the to see the main boss of that location and spoke to the second in command and even he refused to honor the recall. My coworkers "Korean" came out and refused to leave and made a huge scene so other customers could see what was going on with all the commotion. They then finally decided to honor the recall.

I really don't understand why these dealerships refuse to honor recalls when it's sanctioned by Toyota themselves.

If you do choose to go to mapunapuna, ask for the service rep radman. He was pretty helpful when I sent an email in regards to my leaf spring recall.

All this and more stories of servco basically turning away from warranty work with lifted vehicles makes me consider getting the 7 year warranty and leaving the Trail stock. Should be able to tackle the flats, I'll have performance and looks.. maybe I'll just do a "pro-look" build (minus the suspension, but with the KDSS) and call it a day..

Most of us get our armor frim Pelfreybilt or All-pro. Mainland, but worth it. If you ready to order, email Sarah at Boss 4x4. She can order both and may be able to get it on a November pallet comibg over.. save a little here and there..

that all-pro rear bumper looks nice and is pretty cheap. The Pelfreybilt is also pretty dope looking.

I'm hoping the insurance monies will conver all the costs.
