I will admit, I am not a fan of the 2016. I have light heartedly bashed it. That is typically the tone of this forum. Don't be mistaken, this forum is amazing and YOU WILL absolutely meet really awesome, intelligent, helpful people. There is a bit of hog wash, but it is usually in good fun.

I think most of the distaste is due to the intense love of these trucks, and people wanting something AWESOME, but received less than ample upgrades in areas sought after by a mostly off roading crew.

Again, this forum is awesome. Great how-to's and meets and greets everywhere. Mild to wild here....with plenty of sarcasm to boot. I can see where it would be daunting at first. Since you are in Indy, you will probably have the opportunity to meet some of the Indy guys, and even the Chicago area fellas. I suggest you talk with them. Many of them are also members on TTORA and have since left there primarily and come here.

Anyone know of a "2016 Tacoma Event/Demonstration" coming to the Indianapolis area. I drove to Terra Haute this weekend to get a personal look at a Blue Pearl Limited DCSB Tacoma. It was sold, but the guy let me take a once over and get some pictures. Anyway, the dealer was telling me about Toyota coming to Indy this month (Oct) for a big demonstration of the truck, as they go around the country. He did not have any information other than "I heard they will be in Indianapolis this month doing Demos, I think at the Fairgrounds, not sure". Other than that, I cannot find any additional information or if he was just imagining things. Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything similar, and possible dates.

I dont, but Butler Toyota in Indy has a silver 2016 Sport 6 speed manual in stock. I took a look at it today as my truck was getting windows tinted there. 73f2e1a4ec8e826dfde34df3b4f9f9cf_55838736da8e2109186e93929ba6d80979007876.jpg

I had to entertain myself a little today. So I have been looking at dealers in IN to see what Tacomas they have. And "few" is exaggerating if you include the whole state of IN, as I search around. Rick Hendricks, most everyone knows that name, has many dealerships, some in NC were I am from. So what does the man with the biggest name in motorsports have at his Toyota dealership...well, about 15 new 2016 Tacomas. I think that is more than in the state of IN total...hahahahaha. Money talks... a LOT. One was a MGM DCSB OR with premium pkg.... I was about to scream "ROAD TRIP", but I can wait a little longer. Really want to see if any issues shake out in engine/transmission/suspension.

No problem. Rick has a very very close relationship with Chevy, and has purchased the VIN #001 & 002 for the first 2010 Camaro SS, Camaro ZL1, Camaro Z28, Corvette base and Z06, when those new generations came out. I believe they were all purchased for around 200k+ (which I think the proceeds went to some charity). But anyway you look at it, he was getting what he wanted based on size of wallet. Heard he gets treated very well with his dealerships in getting what he wants. "someone said..." blah blah blah, take it all with a grain of salt, but after seeing how many Tacoma's he has, compared to other dealerships sure makes those statements more true than false. At least they are showing up somewhere. Just sharing my entertainment for the day.

Hi Hank. 2001 prerunner, regular cab, auto. It's pretty basic and I like it that way. My buddy has a Leer topper that I'll be putting on this winter, and I also plan to swap in front bucket seats and a console from a 1st gen Tacoma in place of the bench. The big project is going to be a DIY frame swap due to rust (not covered by Toyota anymore). I've got a place to work and have been finding some leads on car-part.com, the biggest issue is finding one decently close / getting one that is further away to. Me.

I did a LOT of hunting in my 1st gen. I had that bench seat covered with a very heavy vinyl, to take the abuse of all the gear I would be hauling around. I miss the ol truck, it never left me stranded, and I put it in places I never thought it would make it out of..but it did. Congrats!!

Just thought I'd throw this out there for all you HOOSIERS! (I'm a native HOOSIER myself....Grew up not far from Charlestown Indiana....Southern end of the state, just North of Louisville)

Anyway. I live south of Louisville now. (Mt Washington....Just north of Bardstown) We have a small group headed down to Black Mountain Off Road Adventure Park in Harlan Ky on Saturday, Oct 24th. We will be leaving the Mt Washington McDonalds @ 6AM. With Gas stops, and a quick breakfast along the way, maybe a 4 hour drive from Louisville area. You can google Black Mountain and see it is an INCREDIBLE place to wheel! If interested, let me know (via PM or check in to the "Official Central Kentucky Thread" in Midwest forum. We will take I-64/75 south. You can take I65 south to Gene Snyder Freeway (just south of Louisville, then go east to Bardstown Road, then south about 8 miles to the intersection of St Rd 150 (Bardstown Rd) and St Rd 44 . There you will find the McDonalds where we will kick off this trip. If you're interested, and want to shorten up the "meeting point", contact me and I'll work out something with even less mileage to where we can meet along I64 just outside of Louisville.

Everyone is welcome. We will be doing the "green trails" at Black Mountain. These are the easier trails and will accommodate stock vehicles as well as anything else you feel like driving. My hope is to get a multi-state meet going every fall at one of a number of great off road areas in Central Kentucky and/or Southern Indiana.

Went to check out Haspen Acres on Sunday with my 3 year old daughter. By the time we got there, 20 minutes, she was asleep. So, I didn't do much, just wanted to find it, and see what the volume of people was. I've lived 20 minutes from there for about 6 years, and this was my first time looking for it. Seems a little janky. Lots of dirt bikes. And pretentious Jeepers....

I have to change out my CV Axles, or I might have gone in. I don't have any recovery equipment yet, so, it would probably be a bad idea to go through too much by myself.

I will be going back. Like I said, I live like 20 minutes from there...so, I think I may start with some easy trail riding.
