I'm a die-hard Steelers fan and Bradshaw benefited HUGELY from his teammates. He was an excellent QB, that's for sure, but not GOAT discussion worthy.

I thought this was hella funny. When Michael Bennet was asked about Matt Stafford...

“He’s from Dallas,” Bennett said of Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. “They killed President [John F. Kennedy]. I hold that against him.”

Oh and did any see Greg Hardy's presser? What an idiot! I bet @650H1 is getting is panties in a bunch after he talked about Brady's wife

I don't think you can compare pre-salary cap era players with post salary cap era players. There needs to be a line in the sand. IMO the greatest pre salary cap era QB is Montana followed closely by Marino/Moon/Elway. Warren Moon had to put up with a lot of shit and didn't have the opportunities other players had. IE: being forced to go to the CFL before the NFL. If you project Moon's numbers out from the CFL to the NFL ... 20,000 yards, 144 TD's. They don't translate directly but he spent 6 years of his prime in the CFL then had to learn the NFL game, arguably that cost him 6-8 years of prime NFL stats.

I wonder if Brady played for the Cowboys, Lions, Colts, Bears, Packers or say the Niners, would people think more of him?

Honestly I think people don't like him/don't give him enough credit is because he is with the Patriots, who have been consistently in the hunt.

    just thinking out loud.

You won't like the answer so why seek it? People don't like Brady because he and his team have been associated with cheating. I don't care what that stupid cheating website says. You can go to any fan of any team in the NFL and play a word association game. When you say Brady or Patriots they will say cheaters. When you say Yankees they will say "bought success" when you say Packers they will say history.

He also comes across as a baby and a whiner. I would bet those two words would be high up on the word association game. If you take him out of NE and put him one those other teams people would still think he was a whiner and a baby probably not a cheater.

In all walks of life it is extremely hard to shed an earned reputation.

EDIT: A lot of this by the way has to do with his coach. People hate Bill Belichick. The cause and effect of the Brady/Belichick relationship is very similar to the Harbaugh/Kaepernick relationship.

Asking in here probably won't work well because of the nature of the beast: trash talking thread.

The first 3-4 things that pop in my head?

    Soft
    Over rated
    Great fan support/loud stadium
    Great QB
    No defense

Doing something against the rules doesn't always mean cheating. Bounty gate was a way to pay players illegally with bonuses for big hits and knocking out their opposing teams QB/WR etc. Nothing there gave the Saints a competitive advantage.

Hurting opposing players is one of the most carefully worded components of pro football.

Very few NFL players will say they ever tried to hurt anyone, but most NFL players will admit to wanting to hit someone so hard they knock the person out of the game. It's just a PC way of saying the same thing. The Saints just illegally rewarded their players for doing so.

Wait knocking an opposing QB out of a game didn't give them an advantage?

A bounty system changes the mindset of the players which undoubtedly changed how they play the game.

If they know there's a $50k bonus to blow out someone's ACL or a $0 bonus to go in clean and punch the ball out to force a fumble I can guarantee the players are gonna start trying to take players out. Which affects the game without question.

I thought The Saints were a 'scapegoat' in that ruling. Bounties on players has been going on for decades and probably still is.
In 1992 (if memory serves) Cowboys/Eagles in Philadelphia, that game is known to all fans in Phila and Dallas as ' The Bounty Bowl' . The Eagles blatantly targeted certain Cowboys and no punishment, suspension or fines were ever given.

No, I don't believe it did at all. Like I said, all players are trying to knock opposing players out of the game constantly. There is no video proof that Saints players ever purposely intended to injure other teams players. They were rewarded for big hits and got a bonus if that big hit knocked the player out of the game. as Kevin said, that has been going on in the NFL for decades. As of right now today I assure you there are rewards systems in place in lockers rooms all over the NFL. The saints problem was that their defensive coordinator knew about it and partook.

Safeties will never say it publicly because or PR, especially with all the concussion concerns, but there isn't a safety in the game that wouldn't smile if his legal hit knocked an opposing WR out of the game.
