The idea is pay off your home first THEN buy new cars. I did not experience a new car until I was over 50. Always drove cash and carrys, I paid off my first home in 15 years so the $1200 payment went into the bank when I turned 38. Bought the next home for cash and Still did not buy new car until I could retire. Then I went a tad crazy and bought a couple Vettes, Infiniti, 15 Tacoma, and now an MX 5 and waiting for my 16.

My wife prefers to keep her cars......I leased a CRV EXL for her. The payoff will be less than it will be worth (due to a great Cap Cost reduction) so I may or may not lease her another.

That sucks. When we built this house we wanted the garage to be 26 feet deep for a boat. We decided not keep the boat home (and in fact sold it and joined freedom Boat Club) but the extra length has been handy with the bike parked behind the truck

The more I look at the 3rd gen the more I like it. If I was in the market for a truck and had the choice between a 15' or a new generation 16',hands down 16' ( colorado, zero chance, that thing isnt nearly as nice looking at the Tacoma). Not sure why people are even thinking about getting the 15' with the 16's out ( they say proven technology, or they hate the grill, reliability not proven, yada yada). At the end of the day most 2nd gen owners are pretty much a bunch of haters me thinks when it comes to the 3rd generation. Their major complaint is the grill, which is petty at the very least and I guarantee they haven't seen it in person. Toyota has a hit on its hands. But.... with that being said, I wont be trading my 13' for a 16'.

Don't make generalized statements then. And I loved everything else. Just don't like the grill or the price now. Snore

I had the exact opposite reaction to the 2016. I've only seen one in person (on the interstate outside Denver). I thought it was worse than the pictures. There is no way I would buy one if I was in the market for a new truck. It may drive better, but I must like the looks of a vehicle before I will consider buying it.
I'm glad some of you like them, but I really hope my 2014 lasts a LONG time.

This! Great feature, really want to love it, but the lines, the front end, the vinyl overlay, its not a pretty truck. Sure it looks new but a clean lifted 2nd gen still looks better imho, dont want to rain on the 3rd gen guys parade and happy for them, but its not worlds better than a 2nd gen at least in the looks department. My roomie came with me to the toyota dealer to see it and he was like wtf is up with the front (refering to the bumper underbite). Its not a 2nd gen guy hating 3rd gen guy thing, general concesus from most people is that its ugly. :crapstorm: Sorry if that hurts some feelings here. I do like all the info you guys are posting though and the pics, still nice trucks.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
all new trucks with 10 miles on them shift smooth and brake good, cause they only have 10 miles on the ODO. Its the same principle as replacing spark plugs and changing the oil it feels like a new truck cause the ignition parts and lubrication is NEW:cookiemonster: But one thing u cant change is the hideous mug on that thing:crapstorm:

Because roomie = most people. Keep on trollin' that 3rd gen forum telling folks their $35k investment is ugly though. Must have "that" syndrome.

Nice review, I would say to anyone concerned about the price hike of the 2016... Yes, it is a little over priced because of demand (still selling like crazy) but look at it from a different perspective. Compare the 2nd gen to 3rd gen, and if the 3rd gen costs a few grand more, (hopefully less than that in the future when the spike settles), is it not worth it for all the updates? Sure, the towing and power are the same, (even though towing is technically +300lbs, but whatever) but consider all the differences. The updated interior and styling, more efficient engine, transmission, and added features bring the Tacoma back into the modern age, whereas the 2nd gen is essentially the same truck it was in 2005. I personally would pay a slight premium (again, once the hike is down) to have the next generation truck vs last generation. All that being said I love the second gen Tacoma.

Why do you get so personally butt hurt? People dont have to have the same opinion nor is yours necessarily right? Are you that immature. It was an example, coworker just bought an F150 after waiting for the 16 in person, he didnt like it, what I was pointing out is its not just "2nd gen haters" that you all think think its ugly. Its ugly to ALOT of people. But again its pretty to some guys too, hell pontiac sold plenty of AZTECs to plenty of people who thought it looked good too. What the hell is "that" syndrome. Are you 3 years old? I am an avid tacoma fan of all gens, had a first had 3 2nd gens and wanted a 3rd, but it dosent agree with me, I wont pay $35k for a truck I dont like looking at no matter how many features it has, trust if the front was different Id be driving a 16 right now. Is that f-ing ok with you? Geesh dude chill the f out newbie.
