For all you LT guys. What air intake are you guys running? Seems to me like when you remove the fender liners it will let a lot of dirt, mud, and snow into the stock intake located just above it.

I use to get a bunch of snow in there so I removed the tube and elbow all the way into the engine bay. Ran fine like that. But I also had a 2.7

Mine would get clogged as well. for a while i just put panty hose over the tube, but then after mudding one night, my truck started to bog down. stopped, and found out i sucked in the panty hose full of mud, it was completely packed!
a zip tie might have helped.

now i just run a cheap shitty vatozone filter.... i need to do something different.

It was a retarded amount of work lol. We designed and built the kit with the old crossmember still a part of the truck frame. then one night in Glamis some guy decides to pound a 6 pack and run his bombardier 400 quad into my truck 4th gear flat out. long story short...he hit me soo hard that the rack crossmember bent all to hell and actually blew the welded bolt bosses out. grill was destroyed, steering rack, chrome bumper, fender, core support, lights etc...yeah a huge mess. So rebuilding that crossmember was first priority and so I built it as strong as possible. getting the rack in the exact right spot as stock was a total bitch, had to basically reverse engineer it from the spindles inward to not totally F up the great steering geometry we had.

It would take $2,000 cash in my face to build another one lol. Took me a solid week of 10 hour days.

Stock Toyota paper filter in the stock airbox. But going to try an AEM hybrid just to see if it makes any difference.

I have had good luck with the K&N mesh pre-filters that are form fitting to your particular cone intake. My air filter was a mass of dirt the first desert trip I went on without it. I have no inner fenders at all so my air filter catches everything that my tires kick up as well as all of the dust from the trucks in front of me. I highly recommend them.

Personally, I wouldnt run a soft pod filter like that uni posted above. Way too easy to tear and get water into it. A mesh style filter would do better. Im running the stock intake but I want to switch it up to volant or some cold air intake.

It's what I had lying around, it's better than nothin, checked it after driving through the rain, and it was dry on the inside after 2 hours in the rain, I want to do a cold air like that URD one that goes in front of the radiator

I want to avoid spending money on a useless cold air intake if can. In the winter I like to go snow wheeling and am afraid that the stock intake will just work like a shovel catching all the snow off the tire and pulling it into the intake. The UNI filter looks like it might be pretty good from preventing that without spending much. Just might change out the zip tie for a hose clamp.

I am genuinely curious why you always take pictures like that. Or really anyone else that does it.

I did cut a hole in the end(1")of it so it doesn't restrict the airflow too much, it's more of a guard than anything, and I'm a mountain wheeler soo we shall see how it works if it snows
Last year the one time it did :)
