    Bump from the past...

I came across an similar retrofit using a 7" jeep / wrangler style lights by EvolvedMS. I really like the concept and may consider using this JWspeaker HID in its place. These are DOT legal and the DRL and wiring is all inclusive which makes a nice easy retrofit package.

I ended up doing my own regular retrofit on my first gen. Now have a second gen, and would still consider that! Just want to know how the output compares to projectors...

The LED light output is only good when it's close to something otherwise it's worse at distance compared to stock halogen with decent bulbs. The whiter light just seems soft to my eyes and I can't see things at distance. LED's seem to work great as a flood/spot light without cutoff or glare to worry about. Without blinding the car in front or the oncoming traffic I've yet to see a good aftermarket LED setup but I haven't seen them all so that is just a personal opinion.
