What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I'd imagine so..........still inferior to My/Your 4xinnovation bumper

There are in line fuses in the wiring harness going to it, so if you back a boat in the water and you loose your trailer lights and can't find any apparent reasons why look there. Ask me how I know.

 

Companies don't say they are class 3 bumpers because the amount of testing and insurance involved costs a fortune for the small fab shops.

That said it's pretty sAFE to say most bumpers are easily much stronger.

My dads towed 4+ tons with his bruteforce fab bumper.

 

It's $600 to certify a hitch or bumper design. Then all that are sold are certified.

 

I'm never as much afraid of towing as I am of tongue weight capacity for something like this:

 

Ive seen civics with those on the back with a dirt bike on it. Scary as hell

 

Still wouldn't be worried.

I've owned two class 3 hitches and by comparison of every rear bumper I've seen they are pathetic. They only cost as much as they do because of the certification. Usually just one tube and the frame mount plates. That's it.

 

The factory/dealer Class III hitch on my truck was really sad. It had a substantial cross member at the frame but it had a long tongue that was supported by two small bolts into the bottom of the OEM bumper. Almost any fabricated bumper should be superior.

My driver's side seatbelt has been fraying for a while, but the fray finally got stuck in the mechanism. So I moved the passenger side seatbelt to the driver, so I can be legal while I buy one off a user. I did try and fix the old one before deciding to scrap it, but is so bad, I would have to take the springs and such off to get the webbing out, and yeah, I wouldn't trust my life to it any more.

 

Would you consider towing with your bumper design? Say 500lb tongue weight, 5k trailer weight?

 

Don't know why I wasn't notified about your post. But after I'm done with class tonight I post some pics and a more detailed post about installing it.

 

I've pulled 6500 with my bumper several times. And snatched vehicles with it. I wouldn't think twice.

I can't find a replacement pulley for the life of me .
