I admit it, I was wrong; Gen 3 is awesome.

I totally get it! There's just something about the Gen 3 that really rubs people good or bad. My guess is 99% of people here really don't like the grill or underbite and lines that don't flow -- me included. But, in a larger perspective they're really two diametrically opposed packages, with one being more "cutting-edge" (for Toyota) and one being sort of a "minimalist classic" that will last forever and be easy to work on. I love them both, and the Gen 1 even more so.

To add one more review note, it feels to me like there's just a tad bit more room in the front passenger seat of the 2015, than in the 2016. I pushed the seats all the way up on both and was able to squeeze in with just a little more legroom on the '15 than the '16. I think this is due to the differences in dashboard configurations. This is only helpful for people who put a rear facing child car seat behind the passenger seat -- WITH tall wives who need that little bit more of legroom. Other than that it's worthless info.

I don't think that comes "just because". I think it's just the way you "state" your own personal opinion. I myself, and I assume others here, don't personally care that you actually like or dislike it because that's just not going to be possible for everyone to like it.. I think it's the way you seem so passionate in stating how much you dislike it.. Like I said, it doesn't matter to me whether you do or not, but it's not fair to state that it hurts our feeling when you say you dislike it.. In my own opinion, it's just the way you're posting your statement. One of the negatives about posting an opinion other than saying it. Hope this doesn't come across negatively, but I think that's all that's really happening.. A lot of folks are just coming in and saying how much they dislike it and it's almost getting childish.

 

"Sure, the '16 has its flaws, like the big ass grill (which actually is called a "black chrome" and doesn't look all that bad in person), the fat lip air dam thingy (that's got to be the worst), cheap blackout stickers on B pillar, misplaced oil cooler line in front, and the cheap flimsy plastic rear bumper (which I was told is three-piece for easy replacement if dinged). But the ABSOLUTE WORST part about the '16 is the OVER INFLATED HOLY CRAP price. Wow. The '16 version that's equivalent to my '15 with JBL (and also has to come with tech package) is $4,000 more MSRP. And, dealers aren't dealing on them like they were for the '15 so the difference is over $6,000. Aside from that I love it...."

Well said and I might add Toyota has come to the 21st Century. I have no issues with the new design. It will grow on me (like a fungus) but Long overdue.Everyone won't be happy.

Like the Miata Forum where many don't like the new ND design (me included) Sometimes those who have had a certain truck (or car) for a long time are more sensitive and resistant to change. Nothing Toyota could have done would have changed that. There will always be naysayers when it comes to change.

I went though this with the C7 Vette vs my C6 (hated it) and now I am one of the naysayers when it comes to the new Miata ND. I just don't care for the Catfish look and the Kardashian ass, despite all the great tech and fans of the new design. I saved $12,000 and upgraded my Tacoma instead....for half that. So I know what it's like being on the back side of the upgrade fence

One look at the torque curve plot from the engine will show that power delivery is anything but smooth and if rushing to 4th gear, then downshifting to 3rd to maintain moderate acceleration through 45mph is "solid", along with regular downshifting to maintain 75mph then yeah, you would have to read others opinions to come to a different conclusion... Or you could drive one and observe it directly.
