Ok.... Now looking at Headstrong Lift Kit Coil/Bilstein 5100 lift Kit (part # HS05BK-1), and ToyTech kit Bilstein Adjustable Lift Kit with 5100 shocks (part # BK0510ndr). I drive 100 highway miles a day too and from work and hunt, fish, mt bike, climb, and paddle on weekends. So a lot of dirt/gravel/rocky forest service roads on weekends. Some are pretty washed out and steep. Will these kits be sufficient? They both have options. I want to remove the driver's side lean. So I need that spacer. What other options do I need/want? UCA? Diff drop? More info about diff drop option would be helpful BTW. I am also interested in tire suggestions for my situation.

    Thanks.
    Matt

Depending on your budget, I would consider the Old Man Emu full kit including the dakar leaf pack and Light racing UCA's. If your budget allows more to be spent, go Icon. I would look into a set of full skid plates and sliders for the truck too. Sounds like you would use them.

UCAs are needed when you approach and go over 2.5" of lift.

Here is a link to why 05+ diff drops are useless and detremental:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/remove-the-differential-drop-on-your-05-tacoma.118545/

Also, it rotates the diff in a way that internal parts are no longer properly lubricated causing damage. A $30 part causing $1000+ of damage..

If I go for 2.5" with Bilsteins and 885s do I need the UCA?

I have 5100's set at 0 with 885's, and I did not need to get an alignment.

How much lift is set at zero?

Seems like my decision now is 2" lift without UCA, or 3" with UCA. What would 3" with 265 75r 16 look like? Pic?

Anytime you do any suspension modifications it's good etiquette to get an alignment done.

265/75r16 tires will fit on stock suspension with no major issues.

I have the same setup and I highly recommend it.

I know. I went to the alignment shop and everything was close in spec. I forgot the exact numbers. Maybe off by .1 degree

I'm new to Toyotas but not new to offroad vehicles . No sure what kind off offroading you are going to do or what purpose you are building your Taco for..... After spending a lot of money on all kinds of setups I came to realize one thing: minimum lift with maximum size tires you can run without rubbing.
If your goal 33-35s etc", no need to jack the truck up ..... minimum lift to fit those and lots of trimming. Money are better spent on quality shocks, regearing to accommodate larger tires , lockers, long travel. Stock height Taco with 265/75-16, lockers and rock protection is one very capable vehicle and it will still have its road manners. YMMV

I went with Bilsteins with 884s from Headstrong. I am impressed with their customer service. I had a lot of questions that they answered and explained well. Can't wait to get it all installed. Now for tire shopping.

Hi Matt, This is Don you will like that set up. I'm glad I went the same way. It made my truck ride and handle better. I did mine around 700 miles on the truck.
