Rattletrap66’s Build and BS (Chevy 63s)

What kit is that? I got mine from BAMF, although I am considering doing something totally different than just moving the upper shock mounts up

Yep a minor set back that set me back to this Saturday. Could've finished last Saturday if the bushings were good. But good thing @Timbo89 is smart and didn't start cutting up my rig. We pushed the old bushings out and made sure they were the right size.

 

gotcha, yea I can't attest to the kit that comes from Dan since I went with BAMF. Although Ruff Stuff did mess up my order on two separate things (bushings wrong size & bolts not in shipment) I find their quality of the product great

 

yea I still have probably 2-4 weeks to wait on it since it is a 4-6 week lead time

 

Curious which pack you managed to scoop up? I found the 4+1 pack from a 2500 IIRC

 

3+1 off a 1998 Chevy Silverado 1500, not sure if it was 4x4 though. Took the overload off

 

Yea but you have to consider fabrication and the fact that it will be a no turning back kind of thing. Like won't be able to go back to stock

I paid $120 on CL..the extra $20 was for him to pull it for me.

They are way cheaper than Dakars/expos etc and you have more (1) hauling capability (less sag) and (2) more flex

 

Also, the shock relocation kit and other items. To me it is worth it because of the amount of travel, custom work done, payload and how cheap they will be to replace later on

Bushings $55 (Ruff Stuff ones didn't fit )

I'm interested to know what shock length you end up with. SMKYTXN ended up with 18" Kings but he's on a flat bed..interested to see..I always thought 16" with a bed but I could be wrong.

 

12" , 14" you would have to go through the bed. However, I have heard of people doing 14" with some custom locations for mounting there shocks

 

ive been looking into this now just for information purposes. thats why i asked if you were gonna measure the travel numbers. couldnt find a post that had them except for @SMKYTXN build, but he has skyjackers ($$) and the 18 inch shocks. so not a true comparison

i started pricing that out too, but id want to buy a welder and the associated stuff which would add ~~$750 more and then it would be more expensive than the leaf pack im already planning.

 

Hm, if it's 12, I might as well just do the shackle flip. For now, I would still like to keep the bed utilized to it's full potential; more of an expo rig

 

To be safe to start, I'd do 12" of travel. could always upgrade from there

 

MCM says he gets 12" out of a bolt in deaver u402 pack which is the way im leaning. keeps me from having to do total fab work at the moment since i dont have a welder.

either way, curious to see the end result with the 63s
