I set mine to the codes on the first page of this thread for 2012 to 2015. It looks right but I don't know.

Changing my x to 0001/0001 and output to 10 gives me the same value as 0009/0005 and 00

Yeah there are probably multiple codes that can be used that show the same reading

This transmission thing got me digging around some. Per the instructions. 10 = F 00 = C
Looking on the back page at the out format. First characer is as follows 10 = convert c to f. This depends on what the Trans is sending.

In researching on the web, their are various places the Trannys were built. Namely Japan and US
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/engine-drivetrain-made-in-japan.5928/
That's just one place, but multiple sources.

My theory is that transmissions built in the US could be transmitting F, where trannys built in Japan transmitting C. Thus explaining why we're seeing different results?

So if we have a US tranny, no real way to see a C reading.

    Is it plausible? Mythbusters anyone?

Dammit, too much thinking for a weekend. Thanks TW!

Do love that little guy. Cool as hell.

Dont think so. As i posted above the 10 or 00 depends on what you use for the x as well. If you use what is posted in the main post then 00 works for F, but changing it to what is in the ultragauge instructions and 10 still makes it F. Same thing just different way of getting the value due to it being converted elsewhere

So what's the consensus: Scangauge II or Ultragauge? I want to put one in my Taco to monitor oil and tranny fluid temps while I'm towing.

Ultragauge! Cheaper and works just the same

So whats the consensus on what exactly the ultragauge is reading? TC, or pan? Same temp as what the dash reads during temp check mode?

Getting to the point, it would be easier to use the UG for changing/checking transmission fluid rather than the jumping of wires and shifting to enter temp check mode, which is between 115 and 130f or so.

Shouldn't they be different then? Both of them show exactly the same temps.

Where did you get that from? I have switched the codes and came up with the same number.

Anyone try out the wireless one that's now available? Wondering if that will do trans temp as well?

I asked UG if the wireless "blue" shows trans temp and they said yes. I then asked if the codes codes worked on 2016 models and he did not know. Anyone know if the codes for the 2015 work on 2016?

Read through this at work today and just bought the UG MX 1.3 seems easy enough to make the adjustments for trans temp. Truck is a 2015 and will be towing my racecar come summer time so i can deal with the car breaking but wanna make sure the Tacoma stays top notch.
