Not to mention former Ranger owners who moved onto Tacoma after the Ranger ended but hate what Toyota has done with it now. I'd buy a new Ford Ranger over a new Tacoma sight unseen today over a turd gen. Give me an ecoboost and/or diesel option and I'd flip on Toyota quicker than Sabu flipped on Anonymous

True. They could go back to Cali where Toyota a Chevy built trucks in the same plant.

The twins won't impact much. GM has two sleds worth buying, and the balance of their product line is pitiful. Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban & Corvette., although I hate to say those Sierra's aren't as miserable as they used to be..

I am happy GM is getting back into the mix..., Toyota will have to pay attention a bit, and GM will fail again.

Ranger fans., really, go find a Dakota somewhere and I will call the tow truck for both of you...

Agreed. Cartage1 is right about the dakota, but wrong about the ranger.

Saw this up close in person at the LA auto show. Definitely bad ass inside and out(except for dash), but unfortunately a far cry from what you'll see on the dealer floor.

91 Ranger XLT was my first new truck.., but you just can't overcome the bias, or more accurately the loyalty of the F150. Ford doesn't want to move a buyer out of a really profitable F150 into a Ranger.

Mid size is just owned by Toyota and I don't see Ford getting in the scrum unless GM puts an enormous dent in Tacoma sales, and I just don't see it. I had a Tundra and loved it, but I just don't know if a really good truck can beat those biases.

Rather a Ford over GM every day, but would rather see the return of a bobtail Bronco than a Ranger...

Why not? Ranger dominated the compact truck market. Tacoma wasn't on top til the midsize

Guess the return volley is why they abandoned the segment?

Kind of a blur b/t midsize and full now..

I wonder if the F150 did more damage to the Ranger versus the Tacoma?

what????? come on man, get an F150....the bigger the better... 18 wheeler maybe? I gotta landscape truck with hydraulic dump...anyone? F the Taco!!!

friggin' nonsense in this forum lately. Toyota does what no one else does, they give you a vehicle for a niche....If you're a contractor, or need to tow something, or just like being in a big truck, buy a full size....if you are a cop or government official buy a Tahoe (haha), but if you like off roading, convenience, reliability, fun...get a Taco or a Runner.

sarcastically responding to your thread.... too many others to actually respond to
