I'm drooling over all of these trucks that have been posted. When my DCSB Sport comes in the first week of November (going on a two month wait at this point,) she's getting driven straight to the shop for an Icon S5 3" lift.

I agree, I actually traded my 14 for a 16 and can't really say a like one over the other. I LOVED my 14 and the overall look, especially the bigger fender flares compared to my new 16. The 16 however is awesome, so many cool new features. I also still have a first generation that I will always cherish! LOVE TACOS!

    Hello Fellow Tacoma Brothers!

I just upgraded the tires on my 2016 Tacoma Sport Long bed to some BFG's AT 285/70/17. Because there was some minor rubbing I went ahead and had a leveling kit put it. There is still rubbing but apparently the rubbing is in the coil and has nothing to do with the height of the truck. I called both the tire shop and the suspension shop where I got the leveling kit and they both seem to agree that it may need some wheel spacers. Another member on the forum seemed to agree, any other thoughts? Sorry I'm really new to the whole lifting thing.

Oh, one more thing. After the leveling kit was installed (literally hours ago), the front end appears to sit up a little higher. I was told that it will take a couple of days to adjust, is this true?

The leveling kit will take a couple of days to settle in. You'll experience a minor drop from how high it sits now. No much, really minimal.

You're most likely rubbing on your upper control arm. The fix for this is either wheel spacers or an aftermarket wheel with less backspacing. In either case, pushing your wheels out further in the front may cause you to rub tire on either your bumper or body mount when turning. I don't know if it will for sure happen because I haven't even gotten my 2016 Tacoma yet, but from my experience wheel spacers will give you the ability to clear your UCA but rub on your bumper

Thanks redbull944, really helpful information. It sounds like you really know what you are talking about. I will post some pictures tomorrow but yes, I think you are right, it is rubbing in the upper control arm. I will let you know what the folks at the tire shop tell me tomorrow.

Hi 0uTkAsT, yes I will keep the stock wheels. I love the look of the wheels. I will be going to the shop tomorrow and will fill you in. Thanks!

You're welcome. And if you do get spacers, get Spidertrax. They're the best (safest) set out there. I've been running the same set for 4 years on 3 different vehicles without an issue

Here's my sport with 255/75/17 BFG KM1 Muds and XD Addict wheels. I was a bit disappointed in the wheels when they arrived yesterday though. The lugs are plastic . They do look good though. So far the truck just has a toytec leveling kit. As soon as I have enough cash for coilovers, I'll be going with Icons or Fox with Resi. I stripped off the air dam (2 minute job). It wasn't rubbing but was too close for my comfort. I could have just trimmed them but it looks so much better without the dam. 20151010_103248.jpg 20151010_103350.jpg 20151010_103317.jpg 20151010_103336.jpg

Haha, Nice set up on the older brother! What size tires are those? I went with the skinny talls because they do better in the snow out here. I also didn't want to lose too much fuel economy and torque by going with a wider 33.

I'm 285/70r17 Toyos. I still get 17-18 consistently! My lifted ac had 285/75r16 grapplers and it went to 16 mpg no matter what, heavy ass bitches, the Toyos are great have a warranty and only 41 lbs

So, it looks like people are beginning to modify the '16 models. Anybody taken theirs out for some wheeling yet? If so, how did the truck perform? I'm assuming pretty similar to the '05-'15 models but just curious. Thanks and enjoy the trucks!

My OME rears wouldn't fit and I didn't want to grind (only requries a small amount of grinding) so I ordered some toytec boss shocks

I don't remember off the top of my head, but they mount shaft down (reverse of the OME's) so clearance won't be an issue
