Yes, because the CUV/SUV has taken over. I doubt that crowd will go "oh, I want the pink one with the box to go with my tiny puppy," like what is happening right now the Wrangler. Most of them around here are either lifted and bro'd up but stick to pavement or rural redneck soccer mom approved.

Agree, I had a 2007 jk, and had a lot of issues. Won't be buying another Chrysler product again. Even though I loved my jeep,it was so capable off road, it just wasn't very comfortable to daily drive.
With that being said I am curious about the new 2017/2018 redesign/truck.

The JL will be more SUV and less Jeep. That's it.

Sad. The jeep culture is going the way of the dodo bird.

That is surprising. The Jeep 4.0 I6 is one of the overbuilt legendary reliable motors in recent history. Maybe not surprising if you had the D35 outback, then you were just lucky the thing didn't grenade drop the C-clips and have your rear axle shaft pass by you on the street. I owned my 2004 Rubicon for about 6 years and never had a single, even minor, issue. One of the best vehicles I have owned. Completely different animal then the JK though.

Unfortunately CAFE 2025 requirements mandating fleet averages of 54.5mpgs really hurt this segment. Solid axles are very heavy. Ground clearance is aerodynamically expensive, large torquey engines are thirsty, steel body panels and bumpers add unnecessary weight. Add that to increasing safety requirements, and automakers trying to broaden market appeal and everything gets watered down. Really the only outliers are the full size truck segment.

I totally agree. Had an 08 JK Sahara and now the wife has a 14 Sahara. The new V6 is much better than the original! And apparently the poster you responded to drove a basic sport. The Sahara is plush and rides well on the highway. The wife says its cruising speed is 80! LOL. I'll take a Sahara or a Rubicon out in the dirt way before I'd take a Tacoma. Did some pretty rugged stuff the first week I owned mine and it was bare bones stock. A standard OR off the showroom floor would have had a tough time. Not bashing Tacomas but as was originally stated apples and oranges. We own both! With the hard roof the Sahara is very close to the internal quiet of the 16 Tacoma.

Only thing that sucks is how easy it is to knock the alignment off on the JK, especially if it has some lift. Then you are asking for the wobble of death.

So the engine was one part that I never had a problem with. At 10K aligment went. At 12 K rotors warped and *mechanical* door locks broke. At 19K the entire transmission took a dump. 4 weeks in the shop to replace. at 20K loud BANG when making left turns. Didn't bother to find out what it was, traded it in for a Pathfinder after less than 2 years of ownership. I still love the concept of the Jeep Wrangler and would drive one forever. Every couple of years I check Jeepforums.com to see if any improvement in quality has been made. Nope.

Not sure I would go that far. My JKUR actually rides softer on the street than my Tacoma did. Only difference is a little bit more wind noise over 75, and the recirc ball steering isn't as precise as the R&P in the Tacoma.

As much as I love keeps, I have to travel a lot for work and whenever I've had a Chrysler product it's had tons of electrical issues. First off they all have the weird gear selectors now that always seem to have an error. I really wanted to like the loaded grand Cherokee I got one time, but the ac/radio/nav interface kept freezing up and blasting the heat on a 104 degree day

I'm sure the Jeep Pickup is going to be a really cool truck with some really cool features, but it's still a Chrysler. I will not buy a Chrysler. Too many issues. I'd rather have a boring old 2016 Taco than a new Jeep. My time is better spent when I'm not at the dealership waiting for repairs
