It's actually a really sophisticated system. To be able to change incoming units to exact specification is really cool. I have worked for other manufacturers and Toyota is by far the most advance with their ordering system.

I "ordered" back in late August and still have no build date. Double cab, longbed, sport, premium tech with jbl. Passed on one that had everything but jbl. Not too picky on color, but no shade of red/orange or desert sand. Hoped to have it by end of October. But like my dad always says, "wish in one hand and s#!% in the other, let's see which one gets filled quicker."

Maybe in your region, but not in the gulf states region. Sucks here.

That's what I'd ordered back in August - 7172. Build date slipped from 9/11 to early December. I recently got a delivery date of 12/19 to the port. Gotta be something with loaded DCLB TRD Sports.

I thought maybe you had yours already. I'm pretty frustrated. I think it's the jbl. I could have got everything except that and have it about now. But, I'm still waiting. Not sure what to think.

If I have to wait till December I will be dissapointed, but I would also be relieved to have a time frame.

I think it does have to do with dclb sports. I have had one on order since Sept. 19 and still don't have a build date. Mine was MGM 4x4 DCLB with tow, tech w/o JBL. Must not be a popular build right now.

That is a great color, but I'm really liking the MGM color and my last two have been Silver so this is something different for me too. What color is yours coming in?

For the months of October and November, here in the Denver region which consist of 73 Toyota stores, there are 748 4x4 tacomas being built and of those 748 only 24 of them is your specific model build.

Yes we are starving for them
Right now.... I am currently sitting on 10 preorders with deposits. It's like having no air and under pressure to fulfil obligations. It's the worst having to tell a customer I couldn't get your truck on this allocation.

For everyone that has their "build dates" pushed back. Let me give you an strong possibility of why. When you initially talk to a dealer and they find a model that you are looking for and reserve it, it often times is not in their inventory. Their intentions are to swap
One of their own allocated units
For yours. When that swap does not happen, whether it's due to lack of cooperation from the other dealer or they just let it fall through the crack, it's forces the dealer to find another unit. Now most units out there are from different allocation batches which mean different build dates. So if they call you and tell you that your production date is pushed back, it's not cause of a manufacturing issue, it's because they couldnt secure the truck with the original build date they told you, they ended up securing a different one with a build date from a later allocation. Hope this lends a little insight.

Wow, I guess I thought the Sport DCLB would be a popular build. That explains a lot with so few getting built. We are all competing for the few trucks being built for our specs. If you are flexible on color that should help.....

Also if anyone is in the Denver region (California, Arizona,
New Mexico, Denver, Nevada) I can give you the exact build percentage of your truck even down to how many colors of that specific truck are going to be built. This is so you can have an idea of how rare your truck is and to better understand from a dealers stand point the difficulty of try to obtain one.

I believe mine was an allocated vehicle as the dealer kept calling me back each time he would change something on the system and it would take. Just couldn't get the jbl to take. Think once that happened he let the other dealers in the region know it was available

I'm in the Kansas City region, I don't know if allocations are similar to Denver or not.
