The zerks are pipe threads so they should only go in until they're tight

 

They should just screw right in and you don't have to bottom them out. If not, try cleaning out the threads and try again.

 

I know they're not suppose to sit flush with the UCA, but they seem very hard to screw in. I know they're hollow and I don't want to snap them off.

 

I used a tap to clean the powder coat out of the threads. It helped a little but I still had some trouble getting the zerks in. Plus they might not all face toward the tire like the pictures show. It's not a very good design.

 

I'll look and see if I have a die that will fit. As far as greasing goes, how do you know if you are greasing the UCAs the proper amount so as to not "mushroom" the bushing?

 

The nut is ny-lock so it doesn't need much torque. I cranked it pretty tight and didn't have any trouble with bushing deformation. Make sure there is no grease on the threads tho and prolly use blue thread lock. The movement of the arm can loosen the nut.

 

Are these zerks installed deep enough?

 

Yes.

 

I know it's been posted here in this thread at least twice but not everyone checks each page. Read your printed install instructions and then review this video.



One thing that catches allot of people out are the zerks. If you do not have a tap then tighten them until they bite and then back them off to clear the thread. You will probably have to do this a half dozen times per zerk. And remember that NPT is a different type of thread and they will not "bottom out."

Also double check the UCA orientation before bolting them up. It is very easy to mistakenly put them in on the incorrect side as well as upside down. As convinient as it would be remember that the zerks do not sit on the top.

 

I used a tap to ensure the threads were good on both my camburg and TC UCAs

 

I haven't torqued everything down yet, but why would the uca being hitting the coil?

It's like there's too much down travel. I'm having to jack the LCA to keep the uca from resting on the coil

 

Pics might help out with determining a diagnosis. I didn't experience that particular issue when I installed my UCAs. This may be a dumb question, but do you have the UCAs installed on the correct side(s)?

 

I've been running ome 3" lift for about six months now. I just picked up a set of total chaos uca since im free this weekend I want to install them. Would I have to get an alignment right after? or should I install the day before my alignment date (2weeks away)? thanks

i dont think there is any limiter for down travel. if you expect to full droop or jump sweet jumps you might need straps

 

I can see the rubbing issue you have, is there a chance you can take a picture of the whole works - not as zoomed in - and indicate which side of the truck it is for us? And to repeat what @Griff 99 TRD asked, are you certain that they are on the correct sides? He asked that as UCA/spring collision is one of the issues that people face when the UCA's are either upside down and/or mounted to the incorrect side. Zerks should be facing down and stickers facing up and to the front of the truck.

I, too, am running OME. I have the 883 springs, though. I've read and have been told by a few folks to wait a few hundred miles prior to getting your wheels aligned and balanced. I'm assuming the reasoning behind this thought process is to allow your springs and shocks to break in a little bit so you can get the caster/camber close to factory specs. Imo, it was a good call purchasing after market UCAs. I definitely noticed a difference when I installed mine.

 

Me too lol. Pretty sure everything is installed correctly. I'm thinking it's the increased diameter of the 700# coils causing me issues

 

I don't think the 700lb springs have a larger diameter than the 650lb springs. Springs are married to the shocks based on the diameter of the shock i.e. 2.5 or 2.0. My guess is the UCAs are rubbing only when the UCAs are at "full droop" meaning fully extended toward the ground. Once you put your wheels on you should be good to go. However, I feel I should ask, are the uca rubbing in your most recent picture? It looks like you installed them correctly.
