I bought the Duratracs but returned them and went with the Cooper STmaxx. Love this tire and some real good reviews.

I have KO's(E rated) and drive FSR's, hunt, etc etc. They don't shed mud as well as I had hoped but I suppose that's the trade off to their quietness on-road. With that being said, I push the truck pretty hard on some trails and I haven't been stuck yet. Will try another tire next though, something more aggressive like a MTR/Kev or KM2.

Another vote for the ST Maxx here. Quiet, tough, great traction in all conditions. They are fairly heavy though and if you do that much highway driving I'd recommend the Michelin LTX M/S2.

I like the Toyos Open country RT as well but can be tougher to find.

Another vote for the Hankooks from me. I run 285/75/16, take it off-road fairly frequently and also use my truck as a daily driver.

The one extremely negligible drawback to them is that they get a rust-like look to them, that is due to the chemical in the rubber that keeps the tires from cracking. If I am feeling like prostituting my truck around the mall parking lot, I just spray some Meguiar's on them and they stay nice and black for a few weeks. I don't give any craps about this, but I know there are some super anal folks on these forums who might like to be aware of this before making a purchase.

Toyo open country suck on ice and snow - compound is too hard. I run Toyo M55, siped. Great all around traction (and roll just fine for those mpgs) and after a couple winters they become summer tires (running multiple sets of wheels). I used to do the same routine with Dean wintercats, but the rubber is so soft (great for snow and ice) that they impacted fuel economy in summer - even below 50% tread.

I second this. My Toyos have been hands-down the best tire I've ever owned. Silent on the highway and have taken major abuse off road and kept on chuggin along like nothing ever happened

this is what I would go with unless you get in to deep mud. If so then I would go Duratracs or the Cooper STT Pros

I bought the 285/70/17 set of the guard dog mud terrains and I love them. I have a 3 in lift with aftermarket rims. They are amazing and will be buying other set of the, when mine wear out. I drive about 100 highway miles a day 4 days a week and all around my farm he other 3 days of the week. Great tires!

The 265/75 16 has a roughly 3 percent greater diameter than a 265/70 16 so I agree that he should go with the 31in tire. And check tire rack for specs on true demensions, I suspect some 75 series tires may be darn close to a "larger" spec 70 series.

I guess I was just curious about a LT in one size but a P in the other. I just wondered why, other than size.

thats how michelin makes them. I would have bought P265/75 if it were available.
