I really don't think a Galaxy 55 will fit. I cut out the tab today to push the radio further towards the engine and really didn't gain much.

I started this project. Haven't finished it yet. Removed the face from the radio. Making a jumper wire so I could put the face in the middle like Edibcininnati did. And put the main body under the seat.

Mounted mine against the back wall of my single cab. Have a lil will mag mount that runs out the slider. Ran power and ground up to the battery with a dash switch. When not in use I toss a black t shirt over it for stealth and the antenna goes behind the seats. No whine, can reach the controls pretty easy and I can hear it great.

    Are floor mats a mod?
Same radio as you. Mounted the box under the console in front of the drink holders. Cobra magnet whip ( I only use the radio for close in trail comm with other runners) very little tuning. Everything hidden and clean. Mount doesn't impinge on leg, antenna is under drivers side back seat, I just pull it out and stick it on the roof when I need it.image.jpg

Where did you guys run you antenna wire into the cab? I want to run it through the firewall but with a double cab don't think an 18' cable will be long enough. Might have to come through under the drivers seat.

Mine runs along the left frame and comes up through a grommet hole in the driver foot well under the carpet. From the left rear where my antenna mount is to there, I have several feet of slack that allows pulling out easily to connect a SWR meter.

Has anyone mounted a small radio just above the auto diming mirror? If so how did you go about running wires up top?
I had mine there in the last vehicle and am considering that location again.

Sorry for the bad picture, but I'm running a Sirio 5000 fighter series antenna and Sirio PL-145 mag mount. Best talking and receiving setup I had. Also running a Galaxy DX-979 magnet mounted to the roof. I will take some pics of the radio mounting later if anyone wants to see.

Nice boostbaron! I currently have a Wilson 5000 but always wanted to try a Sirio. I would be interested in seeing your Galaxy setup!!!
