He's on dakars, not sure if he has the AAL or not.

Definitely get a high clearance unless you're the kind of person that cares about resale value. Personally I'm just planning on keeping the truck forever.

Alright thanks and yeah probably going with the high clearance and I have a couple pinstripes to many from off roading to be worried about resale value at this point haha

Yupp Dakars with AAL. I had some rake when they were new but never minded the look. Now with the leafs worn in and weight from the cap and roof basket it sits closer to level. I like the AAL to better hold the weight packed for trips. Gear, water, and firewood add up quick!

Yeah for sure I have a bed rack vs a cap so I'll have a good 150lbs roughly from what you carry on a day to day so might not need the AAL but I'll see I currently have the Icon AAL with just the bed rack

does lowering the carrier bearing do the same thing? I used the OME carrier bearing drop kit but no wedge shims

Use a combo of cb adjustment (washers/spacer/flip/etc.), and axle shims (forward/reverse/etc.) to correct driveline angle. There is no solid answer cause every truck is different. You may need a combo of everything, you may need just shims or just CB drop/flip, you may not need anything.

Gotta measure, see where your at. If you are not happy with the operating angles figure out what needs to be adjusted and use the above techniques to correct it.

Thanks. I am going to have to take some measurements because my suspension and load has changed so drastically over the past year. I am not feeling any vibrations though. The only thing i do notice is that my drive train kind of binds up sometimes but i always attributed it to being a manual transmission and i just wasn't being smooth enough with it. For instance if i am in 6th gear and am not pressing the accelerator and the truck is slowly decelerating then i press the accelorator a little too quickly the engine spools up and then catches in kind of a jerky manner. I will have to check out my angles. Maybe this is the cause of this issue. Is the angle app on my phone sufficient?

Sweet dude! Me and you are right on par in the mileage category. I need to catch up in the mod section. I'm jealous of all the electrical shit you have done. Electrical stuff is my nemesis. Give me a wrench and a grinder over a cable and fuse any day!

Speaking of electrical, had an emergency call out at work Friday night and for the first few hours I was using my light bar to light up the yard better. Kept checking on the battery but around 9.6 volts my battery wouldn't start the truck. I had already shut the light bar off before trying to start the truck, jumped the battery then went to turn the light bar back on and it wouldn't turn on.. Tried to trouble shoot a few things, but needed to put it off and keep working. I just now had a chance to look threw the harness and found a melted quick connect. It's the connection from the light bar wire to the harness. I'm not sure why it failed there rather than the fuse.. I have a 20amp fuse in the blue sea block now, maybe it to much :notsure: That was the first time I ran the light bar for a long period of time.

    What haven’t I changed?
I'm still afraid to run my light bar for an extended period of time, even with the upgraded wiring harness. For me the issue is two-fold. First, those quick connectors are probably rated for 25A max and I think your light bar pulls around 33A. Second, after a few minutes of running my light bar I noticed that the cable coming out of the light bar was a little warm, so I just don't trust any of the wiring past the 10awg wires. Maybe one of these days when I get the time and motivation I'll pull everything apart and run 10awg from the light bar straight to the relay/battery and skip the connectors. Unfortunately, this is just a result of using the new 5W LEDs instead of the older 3W ones. More light output, but also more power draw and they didn't go back and examine the side effects this would have on the wiring.
