5th Gen sucks. Numb steering, floaty suspension, and serious lack of content compared to the 4th for the price. It drives like a tall Camry, not a body in frame SUV (TE excluded). Had the chance to grab a 2010 for almost nothing with the trade in of our 4th Gen and opted to keep the 4th.

That's totally BS, hahaha...it drives like a tall Camry LOL..... get a grip, man. Anyway, so basically the only SUV that can beat the Runner is the Runner itself. Not happy with the 5th gen, fine, but there is nothing else you can buy new at the moment that can compete.

Seriously, have you driven a 5th gen? The biggest complaint among people is it drives too much like a truck and nothing like a Camry.

I'm thinking F the Taco and the Runner and putting a 2-3" lift on my Sienna and beefing up the tires! lol....Seriously, the AWD Sienna would be great with a bit more power and ground clearance.

As someone who owns a 2010 4Runner, you can't be more spot on. I actually wish the Tacoma was more like the 4Runner.

I was thinking Taco...test drove a '16 Taco, then drove the '16 Runner that was next to it.... I felt there was no comparison....I'm getting the Runner...thanks for your feedback.

You won't be disappointed. If a truck wasn't an absolute must for me, I'd have a 4Runner.

I'm in a similar boat as you. I'm looking into buying a truck cause its just getting to that point I need one. I've had enough doing side jobs out of the back of my car...given my car was heavily modified and always entered in shows. between little trunk space left after all my audio. not being able to drive anywhere given I have no ground clearance, barely being able to drive in snow. and now starting to do more home renos...its just becoming impractical having a car.

Theres so many reason I need a truck....but parting with a car is so hard for me. I've been a die hard VW/Audi fan for so long. The fact I'd be buying something with less power than my current car is hard, and knowing I can no longer take onramps at twice the speed, or just in general every aspect of driving a car is basically gone. and being Normally asperated is odd to me. I've always been charged. not to mention I still have a bunch of parts from my old track car kicking around that I'd love to start a new build with....but with a truck cant do that. and wont have the money for both.

Resale value and reliability = Toyota.... Used to have an F150.., now rockin' Toyo and love em. If you want size, go Tundra..

Prior Tundra in pic, and now driving 15 TRD DC.

Your call, drive them all.., and if resale isn't a key factor, buy the one that you like the best. Full disclosure, the Tundra can tow the space shuttle because it generally needs to tow a fuel tanker.... (Miserable mpg in Tundra)...

Stopped at my local Ford dealer today to wander around the lot and look at trucks while they were closed. Yeah, that probably wasn't a good idea.

look at a runner... not sure what your side jobs are, but most constructions workers worth their salt use vans because you could hit a rough patch of rain or snow. the 4r to me is a good compromise... seats fold, much back storage, it's BOF so you can custom roof rack it and use that for heavy cargo.

    I know.
I had a loaded King Ranch. MSRP was 55K. I paid 45K. New one is 65K.
    Holy Crap.

I've kind of figured out what I want, which is equally as dangerous. Even down to two colors, Deep Red or Blue Flame. XLT 2WD with the e locker. 302a group with a console and trailer tow package. With the V8, there were two on the lot, 45K MSRP. I am so tempted. The wife even gave me the green light. Probably not the sensible thing to do. I should have never took that tour of the River Rouge plant. LOL.

Yeah I know. I am seriously considering it. Will probably go do a test drive this week and talk some hard numbers. We'll see.

Well again, the numbers really don't have to do with anything...if you want a Taco, you usually don't want a F150, regardelss of the price difference. I think in Larry's case, he really wants the F150 over the Taco so I agree, do it. I believe the Ford is a quality vehicle...if you like the size, drive and look...go for it!

I'm considering paying off the note on my Tacoma, keeping it as my bounce around rig/dog rig/hunting rig/beach rig.
And setting my sights on another F150. I really like the Tacoma. And it does what it does very well. But there is NO comparing it to a F150. IMO.

well, there's comparing it if you don't want a huge truck and plan on off-roading, and if you dislike the look and feel of it....just saying....haha...

why aren't you looking at a tundra? much cooler truck
