Taco noob from Calgary Alberta. First new vehicle. Not my first Toyota ( 2003 v8 4Runner limited mall crawler for the mrs.) just bought the taco last week been on the thread lots in the weeks prior, great community here! Interesting story is I walked in to the dealer and bought a brand new one loaded with all these upgrades without ever driving one or seeing what it would look like till after the build was done. By that time the ink was already dry on the contract and my first ever test drive was driving it away from the dealer! Haven't looked back ;)

Hello Tacomaworld! I just got a new 2016 Tacoma Magnetic Gray Metallic DC SR5 V6. I previously had a 2014 Tacoma DC Super White I4 and before that a 2007 Tacoma AC Gray base I4. Previous Toyotas I had were a 1987 Celica ST 2dr blue and a 1988 Celica AllTrac (I sometimes miss that car was member on www.alltrac.net) and a 2001 Corolla CE. Don't know why it took me so long to join the forums! All the good articles here made me a fan!

Good Luck with your NEW TOY. Take care of it, time goes by quick. I just took apart my 2003 4x4 to replace broken leaf spring, worn shocks, and Muffler pipe. Lots of rust. Be sure to have the frame undercoated....

Long time lurker, just traded my old 1999 Taco (v6 4x4 access cab MT 240k miles) for a 2016 MGM DCSB TRD Offroad so figured might as well make an account, too. Best part of new truck...it has a clock! (and power windows, power locks, keyless entry, blahblahblah...). Still would be driving the old girl except that she wouldn't fit two car seats...

Just bought my first Tacoma. I traded my Silverado, of 13 years, in. I wept when I got rid of that truck, but it was time to say goodbye. I bought a double cab off road in MGM. So far I love it. It's great to drive, but it looks so small compared to the Chevy. I can't wait to take this one on more adventures and make new memories in her.

    Never Enough
I bought my “New To ME” 2015 TRD OFF ROAD. It had 9000 miles on it and was owned by a Nice Lady. We worked a deal through our Local Dealer (Long Story) so I was able to get it Toyota Certified Used with a 100k mile warranty. It was a great deal. When she bought it new from the same dealership she had everything added to it. 7year paint/upholstery protection package, Clear Bra, 5 year full maintenance package that includes everything from the oil changes to regular scheduled stuff. They rolled all of it over to me. I was undecided on a 2016 or a 2015 but getting this screaming deal I just had to take the 2015.

    My Toyota backstory…
In the spring of 1995 when I was 17yrs old I bought a RED 1989 Standard Cab, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 4x4, 4:11 gears, vinyl seats & flooring with 60k miles. I was so excited. I wish I had a picture.

The first 2 times I took it to the mountains I kept getting stuck. My friends teased me about my 4 banger Jap-Crap truck. They had Ford Trucks & 60’s Broncos & Internationals. All with BIG BLOCK V8s. I was devastated. The whole reason I bought the truck was to go with my buds and not be the passenger tag-along guy. I also wanted to take my Girlfriend “Camping or to the Drive In”. (More on that Later)

The truck did not come with an owners manual and there was no Google or TacomaWorld back then so I had to figure this out myself. I was a naive teenager and thought that if you shifted the transfer case into 4H or 4L it would be in 4WD… NOOOO! You see kids back in my day you had to manually lock in the front wheels. That meant one would have to get their a$$ out of the truck and lock in the front hubs on each wheel by hand. To be honest I do not remember how I finally figured this out. I think I was just poking around the front end and noticed the from hub with a switch that said LOCK / UNLOCK with arrows.

After I figured it out we went “wheeling” and I ran circles around my friends. Their HEAVY RIGS would get stuck in the snow & mud all day long where my light little truck just floated on top of it all. They nicknamed my truck “RED BILLY” because it was race red and climbed like a billy goat. It was a great summer and senior year.

Well boys & girls… Those awesome “Camping & Drive In” trips I told you about earlier… That eventually lead to the creation of life… MY SON! My High School Sweetheart & I had a baby. You can’t fit a car seat in a Standard Cab Toyota. So I had to trade it in on a family car.

My Son is 19yrs old now and just moved out, I think you can guess what I did………………

    I traded in this…
    [IMG]
    AND GOT THIS!!!

Now I can take my HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART, who happens to be my wife still, on those “Camping & Drive In” trips again.

I am new here and not sure if I posted here.Hello TW.This is my second Tacoma as I traded my Rust eaten 07 in for 15.Have had it a month and first time in snow for this year.Loved my 07 for 8 years but hated the rust even after they treated it .Now on this one have a special rust coating and a ion thingy on it to defer the rust.So happy I have a 15 as the 16 new changes well will see if there is bugs in it first year.Love this 15 with heated seats, screen, steering wheel is good for arthritic hands.I was a nurse for 38 years ,retired now but not enuff day in the days.I like that everyone here is Taco lovers and hopefully acceptant of me.Have driven several 4x4s as had 3 Rav4 previous.Hope to get to learn somethings here with all the knowledge from other Tacoma owners.I enjoy the forums and say enjoy your Tacoma as I am biased .They are the best.☺

Is that really 4x4? I thought only the SR 4x2 had the unpainted bumper?
