Hi everyone, just a few questions. I have the opportunity to buy a 2013 TRD TX Pro and was looking for a little input. Any idea on a fair price (mileage 42,000), KBB says between $25-28k? Anything I should know before I buy? Can I get rid of the stock roof rack? Thanks in advance, any input would be great.

TRD Baja? or T/X? the PRO was only a 2015 model year.

Pretty sure the badging is TRD TX pro. Sound correct?

Ah gotcha. Price seems reasonable to me if everything seems solid and maintenance has been kept up on. Tacomas keep their value better than almost everything else on the road so it is pretty hard to find deals on used ones. If it is the factory rack, you can remove it but it may need new gutter seals. Shitty factory leaf springs and frame rust seem to be the most common issues on these trucks but both seem to have been addressed by toyota in later model years.

I know its been well maintained, well at least scheduled maintenance. It was owned by my father-in-law who has since passed and now my mother-in-law is looking to get rid of it. Should get a pretty decent family discount, just trying to see if its the way I want to go? Are leaf springs and frame rust problems for all 2nd gens?

TX Pro was a package offered between the TX baja and TRD OR.

TX Pro is the TRD OR with badging, simulated beadlocks, upgraded sound system (i think) and TRD cat back.

Only thing the baja had on the TX pro is suspension... but at 42k miles, may as well plan on new suspension anyways.

It has a louder/burlier exhaust, TRD wheels, roof rack, and I believe rear diff lock, DAC, etc.

Not sure if you saw my posts above, but not really in the market for a new truck just kind of fell in my lap. Mother in law is looking to sell hers, just seeing if its the way I want to go. Currently have a 1/2 ton Ford and deciding what to do next. We also have 2012 4runner limited, so I'm familiar Toyota at least.

Not sure whats available on the Tacoma, but would be looking for a leveling kit or something in the 3" lift range anyway.

How does she feel about giving you a discount? If she doesn't like the idea, you may let it go, however you can probably give her more than a dealership would give her and less than a dealership would sell it for, so you both win. 42K miles is a bit much to pay 25K for but if it's a good deal compared to KBB, AND you like the wheels, get it. If you're going to replace them, she will probably have no problem selling it.

She's already promised the "family discount" which would be a sweet deal. She's not looking for the most money as its not really an issue for her, I think she'd like to see it stay in the family more than anything.

I would probably buy it if I was in the market. A decent deal seems to have fallen in your lap, (at unfortunate expense) it really just comes to, do you want to drive that truck? Take it for a spin.

What would you use it for? Commuter? Offroad toy? Hauler/work horse? All of the above?

We live in Western MT and I spend all of my free time in the woods. Have been looking at buying a Tacoma for its size and ability to get around in the mountains, hate dragging my 1/2 ton through the woods and getting brushed out all the time. The only thing I really haul is a raft or maybe 2 fourwheelers. If I pulled the trigger on this deal, might consider a 4wheel Finch camper, but trying not to get ahead of myself. We currently own a 2012 4runner limited, which is really pretty similar. It does everything I need it to.

If you've been looking at buying a Tacoma, and you like the truck, go for it. Is it the color you wanted? If not, it would be a deal breaker for me!

What I gathered is that everything he's doing int he 1/2 ton, can be done as good or better in the Tacoma. And I guess they can't both drive the T4R at the same time.

4Runner is her DD and we use it to get around in the mountains with the family and shuttle our raft, great for our son and black lab. My 1/2 ton is a 1998 extended cab, so 4 doors would be nice. Have been considering a Tacoma for its smaller size and ability to get around on narrow forest roads. I know it will haul what I need it to with room for the family/dog.

TRD OR has been a package since gen 1. Concurrent, not between. Unless you mean TRD Pro.

He means between TRD OR and TX Baja in terms of features. As in,
    TX BAJA>TX PRO>TRD OR
Not in terms of years offered.
