Nice work greysled! You're tackling a lot more difficult stuff than when you began! Sounds like fun, guys.

I'm guessing you went eastside elk? You get a Washington state ID yet? Out of state prices are insane!

That's a very decent 6 point, Jared. G4 tine doesn't look too much longer than the G5- I would bet this is his first year as a 6 point. Do you plan on pursuing him? Judging by how light his antlers and coat are he must spend a lot of time in the open- I doubt he'll be hard to find again, and I also doubt he'll see next year. Very cool.

We have our eye on a few big bulls, but who knows if we'll get them. The herd bull is a very old, very large 7 point. We have seen him for the past 2 years as a 7 point, but he VANISHES once the season rolls around. Also in the herd are a few satellite bulls, a couple decent 6 points, about like the one you pictured, and a couple 5 points. On our property the elk are either there, or they're not- and it's pretty easy to tell if they're around. A herd of 30+ animals sticks out pretty well in a landscape of juniper trees and sage brush. If their trails aren't there, you know you're wasting your time pursuing them, which makes for a miserable season.

We've all but stopped hunting on the coast where we used to. All of our "spots" are just flooded with people now.

Get this. On Saturday morning while heading up I-90 my truck engine started losing power and obviously missing. I pulled over and then scanned for codes and got P0300 and misfire on cylinder 5 and misfire on cylinder 6. I shut the engine off and started it again and did not get any codes. Slowly got up to speed and merged back onto the freeway and there was just a couple times while hitting the gas pedal that it lurched a bit. After that the truck was completely fine the rest of the weekend and today. What do you guys think? Will thinks its just a gremlin.

    P0300
    Possible causes

    - Faulty spark plug (s)
    - Faulty ignition coil (s)
    - Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
    - Intake air leak
    - Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
    - Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
    - Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
    - Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
    - Insufficient cylinders compression
    - Incorrect fuel pressure

Put a can of seafoam in your next full tank and that should help clean the injectors

Also I might have heard a knock or two in the engine when I put me head up to the hood (right before JDAM shut off the engine).
