Here's an invoice I received from a salesman. Why on earth would anyone offer $500 above "invoice" for this? It's ridiculous. Look at all the bullshit they added. The car buying process these days totally sucks.

This is for a TRD Sport, double cab, V6, automatic, silver, etc. Basically just like I wanted minus the chrome tubes.

What would you pay for this? Me thinks $33k would be about right. They said it would have to be the invoice price of $34. Walked.

As you can see my "MSRP" is inflated due to Dealer addendum of $1295 for dealer adds I did not pay for.

You did a good thing walking that deal. If they call back offer $33,591 INCLUDING their Doc Fee If you want the dealer adds add another $550. That's what I was glad to pay and I had a real Invoice number of $28502 TRD Sport DCSB 2WD $579 towing $2701 JBL P&T Nothing else.

My dealer has a $1295 add on sticker which they add to MSRP They left all the dealer adds on. I did not pay for those at all. Just $500 over the Invoice of the Truck, FPAT and towing as listed in the PDF I uploaded.

I did not pay for any dealer added accessories and would not have (except for the tinting which they included no cost). The rest -1 year Key replacement.1 year ding, Nitrogen, tinting, Free oil changes, Full tank of gas just came with the truck.

My truck did not even have mats. I bought them on Ebay for $80. Tube steps after market for $250,

Your factory Options are invoices at less than mine invoice mine were $579 Towing $2701 JBL

Also they are ADDING Holdback to invoice when it should be subtracted. Dealer GET holdback. They don't pay it!! Looks like Actual dealer cost w/o accessories is around $30K add another $550 for dealer added accessories.

When TrueCar was good they listed the ACTUAL DEALER COST....In this case around $30,000 before dealer add ons.

The invoice I posted was for a truck that hasn't even made it to the dealer yet. So the dealer adds have not happened yet. So add to this "invoice" all the bullshit doc fees, tint, protection, etc. And the dealers wonder why customers think the buying process sucks and we don't love them. Rolls eyes... :frusty:

I know. I saw that and just started laughing. Hold back is already built into the base invoice price. They think we are idiots I guess.

That is not a dealer's Invoice...It looks more like a sales tool
Don't get mad or emotional You control the sale. You don't HAVE to buy from them. That piece of paper is BS No dealer ADDs holdback to Invoice. They are trying to buffalo you into paying MSRP. I posted My deal. As you can see all the NAs next to what I got on the truck free. Even Tinting....... Don't give up. Find another dealer. Stock is hitting the lots. So you may not have to order. IF you can save thousands , its worth travelling. If you have a trade that just complicates things. I sell my trades at $1500 over low KBB GOOD wholesale They sell VERY fast,

You gotta be prepated to walk when they add all the bs fees. One dealer wanted to add 900.00 dollars plus as a documentation fee. 900 just to do paper work. Get the f out. I told him to stick the truck up his a$$. Iwalked out of a few dealers due to this and ended up with a better deal and 75.00 "documentation" fee. Problem is once u fall in love with the truck they know they got you

Bought my 09 over the phone, other than the online pictures I have never laid eyes on it till the day I picked it up. Ran the numbers via KKB and NADA, (GF works at a C.U.) Got my financing through the C.U. Called the internet/fleet sales manager, asked me to call him back as he had to get the info on the truck. Called back and made my offer and he said yes no haggle 2nd. Truck was a 6spd and I watched it for over a month and the price dropped weekly. Gave the guy a $100.00 deposit. Total phone time was around an hour. He called the Credit union and finished up with my GF. Drove down the the C.U. and did the paperwork and picked up the check. I asked my GF what to do if things go a different way when I get to the dealer (Toyota West, Columbus Ohio) She said get your $100.00 and bring the check back.

Drove up the next day, drove the truck and did the paperwork, and out the door in around 2 hours.

People buy payments, don't buy payments. Shop around, I drove 2 hours to buy. Get financing prior to buying, or at least look into financing. Dealing with the internet/fleet people seem to work better, least for me it did.
And don't buy first year models! :D

I am looking at Tundra's since a Tundra most likely will be the truck I buy headed in to retirement. Most every Tundra I see in stock has steps and other dealer add ons. I guess people buy this crap. The dealer I bought my last 2 Tacomas from charges $199 for nitrogen. I just tell them they can put it in the tires if they want but I am not paying for it.

Rule ONE Don't Let emotions rule.....The test drive is done to make you feel like you already own the truck and designed to increase your emotional excitement at the prospect of it actually becoming yours.....Keep it real...Saving $2000 at the beginning of the deal will pay dividends the entire time you own the truck up to and including trade in or private sale.

Think about this. A guy pays MSRP or worse for the Tacoma and another pays $2000 less.

Five years later they trade...who is in the worst position? Who can sell the truck privately for $2000 Less (or MORE)? Front end Discounts pay off huge on the back end of ownership. When I bought my 15 I made sure it was a good deal because I fully intended to trade it for a 16 if I liked it.

Not the smartest financial decision but my total cost to buy the 16 (and $3000 worth of options I did not have) was $7500 including the cost to own the 15 for six months. Few brands will allow that entry price from one year to the next

I never understood why someone would pay $400-$1000 for side steps into a vehicle that is the same height as the steps themselves. You are adding weight to your vehicle to reduce gas mileage, paying extra, and losing ground clearance...for what? What benefit do they provide?

I dont think anyone here needs them to get into the vehicle. It just provides a certain look that people want.
