I'm new to the taco world but not to the off-road scene. I've had 8 wranglers and a couple Broncos even a Land Rover. What should I expect with this taco

Really, what the hell is wrong with some of you people. It seems there cant be a single post without criticizing someone.

What should you expect? Well, we can hope for 23 mpg on highway, and hopefully good reliability out of the new 3.5 liter engine.

Thats the only reason I bought a Tacoma. I swear, if this isn't real, I'm going to be pissed and take my truck back to the dealer and demand my money back.

Well as far as off-road capability? I have been in jeeps the past fifteen years. This past Friday I decided I wanted something new and different to build. This truck after taxes was 41,900 dollars. I got the truck for 36800 and that was the cheapest around at mountain state Toyota in Denver. They had 9 trucks arrive that morning and they all had deposits on them except mine and a sport. I wanted the bigger ring and pinion so I got the off-road. I don't plan on making it crazy but I'd love bumpers and winch. Maybe a small lift and just enjoy it. I will keep you posted on mpg even though it doesn't bother me if it is only 17mpg. I bought for reliability and simplicity.

I would have thought wheelin' for that long you would have ran across a few Tacos in that time. I will say, having as many jeeps, Broncos and Land Robers (and no I didn't misspell it), you can expect dependability and reliability that typically do not come with jeeps and broncos and light years ahead of land robers.

That's the exact one I just picked up.

Find a steep off road hill and check out crawl control. It'll sound as if your Taco is about to transform. But it does indeed work and work well.

Haha I loved the color reminds me desert storm tacticool color. Yeah my Land Rover was great but when things went wrong it all went wrong. The Broncos were fun in my younger years cause I thought they were cool. My jeeps were reliable but I've seen many that don't last due to maintenance and the drivers. I think this Tacoma is first class. I hope it surprises the shit out of me and proves to me why tacos have the enthusiast they do. Kinda like jeeps they have loyal followers and I love that about the outdoor/ off-road community

Forgot to say congrats and welcome! the sports shift should act like any other tranny that has this feature. My wife's car does it but has a bad lag to it, most people are happy pushing the ECT and forgetting.
